The solo crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on South Barranca Avenue north of Gladstone Street November 26. The driver was pronounced dead after arriving to the hospital, according to the Glendora Police Department. The driver was northbound in the 1200 block of South Barranca Avenue when the crash occurred. The cause is under investigation. Mark Guerrero, 56, was identified by Investigator Ryan Parraz of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Guerrero is a resident of Glendora. An autopsy has yet to be performed, according to Parraz. Vondarrow Dewayne Fisher was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Fisher and one other man are accused of a takeover robbery of Lamas Jewelry, 750 W. Route 66, around 12:15 p.m. September 6. Fisher was located by an officer in the driveway of a nearby mixed-use complex in the 600 block of West Route 66. Fisher reportedly refused to comply with the officer’s commands and was shot.
Fisher was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. 43-year-old Maria Luisa Valenzuela-Ayala was arrested at 2:09 p.m. at 750 W. Route 66. Valenzuela-Ayala was booked on suspicion of robbery. Glendora police stated in a social media post that authorities were no longer searching for a suspect as of 10:42 p.m. and that road closures were over. It was not explicitly stated if a suspect was found. No arrest for a male robbery suspect exists in Glendora booking records, but records show 43-year-old Maria Luisa Valenzuela-Ayala was arrested at 2:09 p.m. at 750 W. Route 66. Valenzuela-Ayala was booked on suspicion of robbery. One suspect was killed by police gunfire after the suspect refused to comply with commands to surrender, according to Lt. Robert Westphal of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. The shooting took place in the driveway of the mixed-use Glendora Park Place Apartments, 633 W. Route 66 September 6. Glendora Police responded to Jamal Jewelry, 750 W. Route 66, around 12:15 p.m. Friday to a takeover robbery. Witnesses described two men armed with handguns. Arriving officers also found a woman parked in a nearby vehicle and later arrested her. Police from surrounding agencies aided by two helicopters searched for the fleeing suspect in neighborhoods south of the crime scene. The outstanding suspect is a black man with a thin build, has short dreadlocks and the sides of his head are shaved. He may be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt or a white shirt and blue jean pants. One other suspect remains outstanding, with a containment and search focusing on the neighborhood south of the scene of the crime — Lamas Jewelry, 750 Route 66. The outstanding suspect is a black man with a thin build. He has short dreadlocks with hair shaved on the sides of his head and wore a black jacket or white shirt and blue jean pants, Glendora Police said. The Foothills Special Enforcement Team is working to locate a suspect. As of 5:15 p.m. a contingent of SWAT team members followed by a Glendora Police cruiser down Vecino Drive south of Route 66 where a search continues. A jewelry heist occurred around 12:15 p.m. September 6. As Glendora Police arrived, a woman was detained in a nearby vehicle. She was eventually arrested. The two fleeing suspects ran through the rear exit of the jewelry store. Police encountered an armed man in a parking lot in the 600 block of Route 66 where the shooting occurred after the suspect reportedly refused to comply with the officer’s commands, according to Lt. Robert Westphalia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Firefighters arrived at 12:34 p.m. and transported the injured suspect to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mark Evans, 64, was identified by Lt. Larry Dietz of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. An autopsy has yet to be scheduled. Evans was a resident of Florida, Dietz said.

Police were called to Grand Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 10:09 a.m. Thursday. The body was found near the railroad right of way, according to Lt. Chris Stabio of the Glendora Police Department. The man was only described as a caucasian in his 40s. The death may be natural and does not appear suspicious, according to Lt. Nani Cholakians of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Next of kin has not been notified yet. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A 27-year-old Los Angeles man died at the scene of a crash after his SUV rolled several times on the 210 freeway Friday. The crash occurred on the westbound 210 freeway west of Grand Avenue around 3:50 p.m. April 12. The driver of a 1999 silver Isuzu SUV was driving at high speed in and out of multiple lanes. The driver was in the HOV lane when he steered across the No. 1 lane, into the No. 2 lane and went partially into the No. 3 lane, the California Highway Patrol said. The driver steered to the left to avoid crashing into a vehicle in the No. 3 lane. The driver rolled the SUV several times. He suffered major trauma and died at the scene, the CHP said.
The CHP blocked the HOV & No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes during an investigation around 4:15 p.m., eventually opening the No. 2 and 3 lanes. James Hershey, 67, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
Hershey was found in a parked, black Mercedes-Benz sedan on the right shoulder of the east 210 freeway west of Citrus Avenue around 1:30 p.m. The California Highway Patrol was called to a passerby report of a unresponsive person, according to a CHP press release. Hershey, a Glendora resident, was declared dead at 1:39 p.m. by firefighters, the CHP said. No one else was inside the vehicle, the CHP said. Dennis Saunders was identified by Investigator Nani Cholakians of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Saunders died by hanging. No city of residence was found for Saunders. He may be a transient, Cholakians said. Saunders’ body was discovered along East View Trail, accessed from the 700 block of South Elwood Avenue around 9:30 a.m. December 16. A passerby found Saunders, according to Lt. Mike Randazzo of the Glendora Police Department. He was officially declared dead at 9:59 a.m., according to Coroner Public Information Officer Sarah Ardalani. |
