Officers accuse Eddie Jessie Valdez, 37, of evading police, causing an injury hit and run collision and grand theft auto, according to the Glendora Police Department. A patrol officer witnessed the driver of a stolen vehicle speeding in opposing lanes of traffic around 9:50 p.m. in the 700 block of West Route 66. The officer attempted to catch up with the driver, but the driver crashed into a parked vehicle at Glenwood Avenue and Route 66, according to the Glendora Police Department. “The suspect fled the stolen vehicle on foot and the officer gave chase. The suspect, identified as Eddie Valdez, was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident,” according to the Glendora Police Department in a written statement. In addition to the charges listed above, Valdez was additionally charged with violating the terms of his Post Release Community Supervision. Valdez is being held without bail in the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles. The collision occurred on the westbound 210 freeway west of Grand Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. September 1, causing a Sig Alert for the HOV and No. 1 lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. The extent of the officer’s injuries is unclear. As many as two other vehicles were involved in addition to the LAPD motorcycle officer. It is unclear if the officer was conducting a traffic stop when the crash occurred, according to the CHP. Andre Lacroix, 74, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash on the west 210 freeway at Bonnie Cove Avenue just before 10:40 a.m. A grey Nissan Murano possibly hit the guardrail and rolled over before coming to a rest about 15 feet down the freeway, according to CHP traffic logs. Los Angeles County Firefighters performed CPR on the driver, but he died at the scene, according to the CHP. The crash occurred just before 1 a.m. on the westbound 210 freeway just east of Glendora Avenue June 14. The woman walked into the No. 4 lane of the freeway from the shoulder where the semi driver was approaching. The driver swerved to the left and the trailer he was hauling struck the woman, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Sig Alert was issued for the HOV, No. 1 and 2 lanes of traffic at 1:15 a.m. The sigalert was canceled at 4 a.m. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - No one was injured after an alleged grand theft suspect and two juvenile occupants crashed while fleeing Glendora Police officers May 26.
The driver and two juveniles were accused of committing grand theft at Ulta Beauty, 1229 S. Lone Hill Ave., and at Chili’s, 1371 E. Gladstone St. Police were called at 6:51 p.m., according to Sgt. Shelly Gold of the Glendora Police Department. Both businesses are located in the Glendora Marketplace. Glendora officers on patrol were close by the Marketplace and were able to intercept the driver who refused to comply with a traffic stop and took off. Police decided to end the pursuit due to the driver’s reckless nature, Gold told SGV CityWatch. The driver crashed into as many as four other vehicles at Gladstone Street and Sunflower Avenue around 6:55 p.m., according to a passerby who reached out to SGV CityWatch. Taylor Jorie Diaz, 18, was booked on suspicion of grand theft of money, labor, or property and reckless evading, according to Glendora Police booking records. Diaz is being held in the Glendora police jail I had a scheduled appearance in the west Covina courthouse Friday, May 28, according to Los Angeles county booking records. The driver allegedly fled the scene of a crash in San Dimas and used the 210 freeway to escape, according to the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Office. The driver crashed into the attenuators while exiting the westbound 210 freeway to Lone Hill Avenue at 1:15 a.m., according to Officer Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Office. Jimenez identified the driver as Magda Knowles. Knowles’ Honda CRV landed on a guardrail. Knowles suffered a minor injury to one of her wrists. The only occupant of the vehicle, Knowles was arrested by the CHP for DUI, Jimenez told SGV CityWatch. Booking information was not readily available. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A collision investigation continues to keep Sierra Madre Avenue between Grand Avenue and Barranca Avenue closed until further notice after three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon.
Two people were very seriously injured in the crash. A third person received minor injuries, according to Lt. James DeMond of the Glendora Police Department. The collision was dispatched to first responders at 5:40 p.m. April 5. Speed was very likely a factor in the crash, but DeMond did not know if alcohol, drugs or distracted driving contributed yet. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Two people were killed in a reported multi-vehicle crash near the center divider on the eastbound 210 freeway just west of the 57 freeway Thursday morning.
One person was found unresponsive and down in traffic lanes on the westbound side of the freeway. It is unclear if this victim was struck in eastbound lanes and landed on the westbound side. One other victim died inside of a crash vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol. Possibly as many as six vehicles ended up being involved in a collision on the eastbound side of the 210 freeway. The crash was reported around 12:13 a.m. December 17. Authorities issued a Sig Alert at 12:46 a.m. for the HOV, No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes on the westbound side. The Sig Alert eventually encompassed all lanes on both east and westbound sides of the freeway except for slow lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. One vehicle possibly landing on its roof after the crash. Northbound traffic on the 57 freeway near Auto Center Drive was temporarily blocked by Glendora Police for at least 30 minutes after the original crash before northbound traffic was allowed to proceed, according to the California Highway Patrol. The cause of the crash is under investigation. 27-year-old Bryan Cornejo of Duarte was tracked down to Ontario December 9 where he was found driving. He refused to stop and led police from Glendora and Ontario on a pursuit until he crashed and ran on foot, Glendora Police said. Cornejo was arrested without further incident. Officers found and seized a replica handgun used in the November 17 and November 25 robberies, according to the Glendora Police Department. In both robberies, Cornejo is accused of approaching lone individuals. He revealed a handgun and demanded property from his victims. Conejo fled with a wallet and sell phone in one robbery, a purse and the second, Glendora Police said. Search warrants were served at two residences and investigators recovered most of the stolen property, Glendora Police said. At the time of his arrest, Cornejo was on formal probation for a robbery committed in 2019, Glendora police said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed three charges against Cornejo. One count of felony identity theft and two counts of second-degree robbery. “Cornejo has a previous conviction for robbery, which is a strike, however, a sentencing enhancement based on that conviction can no longer be alleged during criminal filing under the new County District Attorney charging directives,” Glendora police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A driver of a white Chevrolet SUV was hospitalized for minor injuries Saturday after he crashed while evading police. The suspect was an unlicensed driver and fled police at high speed westbound on surface streets from Glendora to San Marino where he struck a light pole. The suspect refused to stop for officers on westbound Route 66 at Pasadena Avenue around 1 a.m. November 28. The officer tried to stop the driver who was running red lights, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department.
The driver stopped briefly at Huntington Drive and Sunset Boulevard in Arcadia, but took off again west on Huntington Drive at a high rate of speed, Layaye told SGV CityWatch. The driver, the only person in the vehicle, crashed into a light pole at the northwest corner of Waverly Road and Huntington Drive in San Marino. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Victor Rodriguez. He was taken to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for treatment. |
