Pasadena Fire Chief Bertral Washington ordered Red Flag Parking restrictions to start Friday, October 25 and will be in effect until further notice, officials said. The restrictions are necessary to allow fire department vehicle access to urban wildlife areas with narrow streets and to allow for quicker evacuations, officials said. The bulk of the fire was burning between the 210 and 710 freeways. The point of origin may have been inside a transient camp located between the mentioned freeways, according to Pasadena Fire Department radio traffic. Lane closures remain in effect. The westbound 210 freeway to the southbound 710 freeway, walnut on ramp and Fair Oaks on ramp to the westbound 210 remains closed, as well as the northbound 710 on ramp from California, according to officer Elizabeth Kravig of the California Highway Patrol. The fire is burning near the eastbound 210 freeway east of the 710 freeway interchange, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. The fire was reported around 4:45 p.m. Firefighters have requested the California Highway Patrol transition lanes from the westbound 210 freeway to the southbound 710 freeway. The Walnut Street on ramp to the westbound 210 freeway will also be closed, both for one hour. The Sig Alert will last for about one hour and includes the San Rafael Avenue on ramp, the CHP said. The fire was reported around 12:35 p.m. on the right shoulder. A dump truck driver stopped and attempted to extinguish the fire, the CHP said. The fire’s size is not known. The 20-foot by 50-foot vegetation fire was reported around 9:25 p.m. at 360 N. Arroyo Blvd. There were no activities underway at the time the fire broke out, according to Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department. Several Pasadena Fire engines remained on scene after flames were extinguished to ensure no flareup occurred. The cause is under investigation.

PASADENA - County firefighters made quick work of a small vegetation fire that burned near a Sprouts Farmers Market in the county area near Pasadena Wednesday.
The fire was dispatched to county firefighters at 11:07 a.m. near the Sprouts, 39 N. Rosemead Blvd., and the 210 freeway. Firefighters remained on scene for at least 40 minutes, according to Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire’s cause is being investigated.
