Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA – Police arrested a man Sunday after they say he stole a city work truck while an employee performed maintenance at a park. The truck was stolen around 8:23 a.m. April 26 from Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa St. The suspect hopped inside and drove off while the city worker was performing maintenance, Russo said. Steven Garcia, an 18-year-old Los Angeles man, was found parked and sitting in the truck a couple of miles away from where it was stolen in the 400 block of North Carmelo Avenue. Officers took him into custody without incident, according to Lt. Anthony Russo of the Pasadena Police Department.
Garcia was booked on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, Russo told SGV CityWatch. Garcia was cited and released. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Deputies are frantically searching for a stolen Lincoln Navigator hearse with a body in a casket taken from an Orthodox church in the unincorporated portion of Pasadena Wednesday night.
The navigator was stolen outside of Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, 778 S. Rosemead Blvd., around 7:45 p.m. The driver stopped there to deliver one casket and reportedly left the hearse running. The vehicle and a second casket with a body were gone when the driver returned, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies do not have a suspect description, nor was the hearse seen being driven away from the church, Koerner said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has a brief message for the suspect or suspects who took the hearse: “ To the suspect(s) driving around in a Black Lincoln Navigator stolen from the 700 blk of Rosemead Bl ... Out of all the bad decisions you have made, at least make one good one & bring back the deceased person & casket inside the Navigator.” The black Lincoln navigator hearse has a license plate of 7ZDG618. Both men entered the store, 3415 E. Foothill Blvd. and loitered around the phone display before one of the suspects removed a silver 64GB iPhone X, according to Pasadena Police. Both men walked out of the store. The suspects are described as either Middle Eastern or Hispanic. The first suspect has a light complexion and wore a black and white pattern t-shirt with skinny blue jeans and black shoes. The second suspect has a medium build, a beard, wore a multi-colored button shirt, burgundy shorts and black shoes. The three suspects were caught on camera as they entered the cell phone store in the 100 block of South Lake Avenue around 7:22 p.m., according to the Pasadena Police Department. The suspects fled in a four-door Volkswagen Jetta north on Lake Avenue. The Jetta had no license plates, Pasadena Police said. The first suspect is a male Black in his 20s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds, has a dark complexion with a chin shrub goatee and light mustache. He wore a gray-patterned, zip-up, camouflage hoodie with white and dark trim and dark-colored pants. The second suspect is a male Black in his 20s, 6 feet to 6 feet one inch tall, 180 pounds, has a dark complexion, is clean-shaven and he wore a light gray Champion hoodie with large white "C" on the chest and "Champion" logo over the "C" and gray pants. The third suspect was only described as a male Black in a dark hoodie. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Surveillance cameras at a Pasadena federal credit union caught a man slipping a skimming device and camera into an ATM, allowing him to steal more than $25,000, police said.
The suspect installed the devices March 24 and March 25 after visiting the same ATM March 19 and March 20 to test them out, ultimately stealing the victims’ PIN numbers and debit card data to take the cash, Pasadena Police said. An undisclosed number of accounts were compromised. The suspect is a white man, 30 to 40 years old, 5-foot-9 to 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 185 pounds, has brown hair and a full beard. Police believe he may wear sunglasses to conceal his identity from surveillance cameras.
