CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A man clad in a security uniform was booked on suspicion of attempted murder in the stabbing of another man near the Sierra Madre Villa station Thursday morning. What started out as a verbal argument led to a physical altercation and to one of the men being stabbed multiple times. The suspect was quickly arrested by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. The incident began at 7:30 a.m. at 149 N. Halstead St. The victim received multiple stab wounds to his upper torso. He was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital where he was last listed in critical, but stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s Department. “While the suspect was wearing a security guard uniform, it is important to note the suspect was not employed by or contracted with Metro and was utilizing the Metro system for transportation purposes,” according to the Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. Public arrest records show that Transit Services deputies arrested 37-year-old Antonio Olivera and booked him on suspicion of attempted murder. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - The Sierra Madre Villa Station is closed as authorities investigate a stabbing Thursday. A man is reportedly in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times at the Sierra Madre Villa Station parking structure, 149 N. Halstead Ave., around 7:45 a.m. April 17. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau are investigating the crime. A suspect is reportedly in custody. Metrolink A Line riders are asked to use the Pasadena Arts line 40 at Allen Station as an alternate route. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - All lanes of the transition road from the westbound 210 freeway to the westbound 134 freeway will be closed for an unknown duration after a SUV slammed into the back of a big rig and burst into flames. A 20-foot box truck was apparently disabled and blocking middle lanes when the vehicle slammed into the rear of it and caught fire around 4:13 a.m. April 13, according to the California Highway Patrol. The SUV was apparently speeding just before the crash, CHP dispatch center was told. At least one person was discovered inside the burned out white SUV and was, as officers on scene described, “severely burned.” The traffic closure is beginning on the westbound 210 freeway at Lake Avenue. The HOV and No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the main line 210 freeway westbound are open to traffic. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A man is being treated for injuries sustained after jumping from an overpass and onto the 210 freeway Thursday. Drivers reported a person climbing over the fencing near the Fair Oaks Avenue exit on the westbound side of the freeway around 2:45 p.m. April 3. Freeway traffic was stopped at the request of first responders, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man is described as being in his 20s to 30s, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Authorities identified the driver, and was found shot dead behind the wheel of a vehicle in Pasadena March 26. Ivan Cervantes-Cruz What sound still seated in the driver seat of his white sedan the crash of the 700 block of Rio Grande St., Wednesday around 6:15 p.m. His vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into a wall in a residential area. He died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has yet to provide the official cause of death. CPR was administered to Cervantes by a Pasadena Police officer until paramedics arrived, but Cervantes could not be revived. It is unclear if Pasadena Police Robbery/Homicide detectives have identified a suspect, or a motive in the shooting. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - The fast-moving Eaton Fire reportedly killed two people, the Los Angeles County Fire Department chief said Wednesday. As daylight broke and winds lessened somewhat, authorities have tallied 100 destroyed structures. More than 10,600 acres burned as firefighters struggled with containment, which is still at 0 percent. There are a high number of significant injuries. The cause of the two deaths are not yet known, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Chief Anthony Marrone. More than 500 personnel are battling the blaze. CityWatch Editor 1:38 p.m.: CHP has cancelled the Sig Alert on the 134 freeway after this morning’s deadly crash. All lanes are open. PASADENA - All lanes of the westbound 134 freeway at San Rafael Avenue remain closed for a fatal collision Sunday. All westbound traffic on the 210 freeway to the west 134 is being diverted off at Fairoaks Avenue. Lanes are expected to be closed for four to eight hours, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred around 8:12 a.m. January 5. It is not quite clear yet exactly how many vehicles were involved in the initial crash. The first reports indicated that possibly as many as four vehicles were involved. The incident started with a report of a vehicle entering the westbound 134 while traveling eastbound at San Rafael Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. A witness to the crash told CHP dispatchers that one of the vehicles exploded after crashing, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A teen girl said to be suffering an unspecified overdose was airlifted from Devil’s Gate Dam Thursday evening. The teen was stuck 100 feet over the side of an embankment near the 210 freeway and Linda Vista Avenue. She apparently was unable to move without help, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A teenager is stuck 100 feet down an embankment at Devil’s Gate Dam Thursday. It is not immediately clear if the teenager is injured. First responders were called to the dam at 3:12 p.m. It is not immediately known where precisely at Devil’s Gate Dam the teen is, but rescue operations are impacting nearby traffic on the 210 freeway and Linda Vista Avenue, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A dog did not survive a very destructive house fire Saturday. Three properties were damaged by the fire in the 1000 block of East Bell Street November 9. First responders were sent to the home just after 1:30 p.m. November 9. No people were injured, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. The one of the properties that burned is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation. |
