CityWatch Editor PASADENA - One person was found dead inside of a still-burning house fire in the Pasadena foothill Saturday morning. The fire is burning in the 1400 block of Scenic Drive August 30. Firefighters were dispatched around 6:23 a.m. Just after firefighters arrived on scene, they received and transmitted a report that someone may have been trapped inside the burning home. Around 6:48 a.m., firefighters found one deceased occupant and summoned police to the scene, according to Pasadena Fire Department radio traffic. Just before the deceased occupant was discovered, firefighters decided to pull personnel outside of the house due to a weakening structure. ********** Copyright 2025. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - The body of a man found in the donation area at a Goodwill displayed no obvious signs of foul play, a police lieutenant said Wednesday. Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner investigators are determining a possible drug-related cause, according to Lt. Cuellar of the Pasadena Police Department. An employee discovered the body at the Goodwill, 340 S. Fairoaks Ave. just after 11 a.m. July 8. The man was wrapped in a blanket and did not appear to be dumped there, Cuellar told SGV CityWatch. The donation area is a walled-off section near a corner of the store. It’s unclear how long the body was there before discovery. The medical examiner has yet to publicly identify the body. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Investigators have released very clear sketches of the two suspects wanted in the murder of a child who was playing video games in his own home almost four years ago. The discovery of a partial license plate to a gray Ford Fusion (QJ117) and witness statements provided a treasure trove of information related to the two suspects who are apparently connected to the Pasadena, San Jose and Alameda County areas, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The suspects are described as: -A Black male with a medium complexion, 33 to 37 years old, stands 6 feet to 6 feet one inch tall, and weighs 185 to 195 pounds. He wore a red and black The North Face hoodie. -A Black female with a medium complexion, 27 to 31 years old, stands 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 165 to 185 pounds. She is the suspected getaway driver. 13-year-old Iran Moreno was shot November 20, 2021. Moreno was harmlessly playing video games in his bedroom in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue. In a parking lot across the street, the gray Ford fusion stopped and a front passenger exited. Two gunshots were fired eastward, one bullet struck the teen, according to the Pasadena Police Department. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - All lanes of the transition road from the westbound 210 freeway to the westbound 134 freeway will be closed for an unknown duration after a SUV slammed into the back of a big rig and burst into flames. A 20-foot box truck was apparently disabled and blocking middle lanes when the vehicle slammed into the rear of it and caught fire around 4:13 a.m. April 13, according to the California Highway Patrol. The SUV was apparently speeding just before the crash, CHP dispatch center was told. At least one person was discovered inside the burned out white SUV and was, as officers on scene described, “severely burned.” The traffic closure is beginning on the westbound 210 freeway at Lake Avenue. The HOV and No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the main line 210 freeway westbound are open to traffic. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Authorities identified the driver, and was found shot dead behind the wheel of a vehicle in Pasadena March 26. Ivan Cervantes-Cruz What sound still seated in the driver seat of his white sedan the crash of the 700 block of Rio Grande St., Wednesday around 6:15 p.m. His vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into a wall in a residential area. He died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has yet to provide the official cause of death. CPR was administered to Cervantes by a Pasadena Police officer until paramedics arrived, but Cervantes could not be revived. It is unclear if Pasadena Police Robbery/Homicide detectives have identified a suspect, or a motive in the shooting. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - The fast-moving Eaton Fire reportedly killed two people, the Los Angeles County Fire Department chief said Wednesday. As daylight broke and winds lessened somewhat, authorities have tallied 100 destroyed structures. More than 10,600 acres burned as firefighters struggled with containment, which is still at 0 percent. There are a high number of significant injuries. The cause of the two deaths are not yet known, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Chief Anthony Marrone. More than 500 personnel are battling the blaze. CityWatch Editor 1:38 p.m.: CHP has cancelled the Sig Alert on the 134 freeway after this morning’s deadly crash. All lanes are open. PASADENA - All lanes of the westbound 134 freeway at San Rafael Avenue remain closed for a fatal collision Sunday. All westbound traffic on the 210 freeway to the west 134 is being diverted off at Fairoaks Avenue. Lanes are expected to be closed for four to eight hours, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred around 8:12 a.m. January 5. It is not quite clear yet exactly how many vehicles were involved in the initial crash. The first reports indicated that possibly as many as four vehicles were involved. The incident started with a report of a vehicle entering the westbound 134 while traveling eastbound at San Rafael Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. A witness to the crash told CHP dispatchers that one of the vehicles exploded after crashing, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A dog did not survive a very destructive house fire Saturday. Three properties were damaged by the fire in the 1000 block of East Bell Street November 9. First responders were sent to the home just after 1:30 p.m. November 9. No people were injured, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. The one of the properties that burned is a total loss. CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Investigators named the 41-year-old man who died on a train platform in Pasadena July 24. Isaac Hackett was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. He was a Monrovia resident. While the medical examiner continues to defer the cause of death, a recent crime report published by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Transit Services Bureau suggests Hackett fell. “Officers assigned to Pasadena PD conducted the preliminary investigation and stated the male fell from the apartment complex located above the station,” according to the Transit Services Bureau in a written statement. >>READ THE ORIGINAL STORY It is not publicly clear if Hackett fell accidentally, was pushed, or possibly jumped. CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A death investigation is underway after a body was found on an A Line train platform early Wednesday. First responders were sent to the Memorial Station, 125 E. Holly St., at 4 a.m. July 24. The victim is described as a Black man in his 40s, according to Lt. Matt Campeau of the Pasadena Police Department. Campeau would not elaborate if there was anything suspicious about the man’s death. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner is on scene. A Line train Service has been restored to the Memorial Station after trains temporarily bypassed the location during the investigation, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. |
