PASADENA - City officials are hoping a $10,000 reward will encourage people to come forward with information leading to the arrest and murder of the suspect who shot and killed a young teen November 20.

Pasadena Police homicide detectives are continuing to search for the person who fired the shot that struck 13-year-old Iran Moreno-Balvaneda as the teen sat in his own home in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue.

The bullet pierced through a window and struck the boy.

City officials announced the reward Wednesday, November 24 in hopes of bringing the gunman to justice.

PASADENA - Violence continues to plague Pasadena after a shootout occurred with a suspect accused of gunning down a man and attempting to carjack a woman, all before briefly taking a hostage Tuesday, police said.

The suspect, described as a man in his 20s, died in a shoot out with Pasadena officers as he attempted to flee. The man in his 70s that was shot by the suspect died after being hospitalized. The unbelievable scene began to unfold around 2:30 p.m. November 23.

Police responded to the area of Orange Grove Boulevard and Sunnyslope Avenue to a report of gunfire and found the man in his 70s. He had been struck several times by gunfire, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

Witnesses told officers that an armed suspect fled from the scene.

In his attempt to escape, the suspect carjacked a female driver, but continued to run as officers arrived, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

“Officers gave chase, made contact with the suspect, and an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) occurred. At one point during the incident, the suspect took a second female hostage at gunpoint. The hostage was ultimately rescued, unharmed,” According to the Pasadena Police Department in a written statement.

Family identified the teen as Iran Moreno-Balvaneda.

The teen was reportedly in his room in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue Saturday around 6:12 p.m. when a bullet pierced through a window and struck him.

Pasadena Police first arrived to the scene.

“Life-saving measures were given by the officers. The fire department responded and quickly transported this 13-year-old to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased,” Burgess told SGV CityWatch.

A suspect remains at-large. It is not publicly clear if the gun was fired at the home with intention, or if it was a stray bullet that unfortunately found a victim. Investigators have not said if they know where the gunfire came from.

“The devil came to Pasadena yesterday,” Burgess said in Sunday morning interview.

In a press conference November 21, Pasadena Police Chief John Perez said investigators have many hours of surveillance footage to wade through from the surrounding area to see if the gunman was nearby and that they intend to seek additional video.

PASADENA - A teen was killed Saturday evening when a bullet pierced through his home and struck him, Pasadena Police said.

The teen was later declared dead at a hospital. First responders were called to a home in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue at 6:12 p.m. to a call of a gunshot victim, according to Lt. Anthony Burgess of the Pasadena Police Department.

Pasadena Police first arrived to the scene.

“Life-saving measures were given by the officers. The fire department responded and quickly transported this 13-year-old to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased,” Burgess told SGV CityWatch.

A suspect remains at-large.

There is no suspect description readily available, Burgess ​told SGV CityWatch.

Pasadena Police Homicide detectives are investigating the crime.
