The collision occurred around 6:42 a.m. June 13. Two vehicles collided in the intersection. The driver, described as a man in his 50s, was killed in the crash. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be factors in a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist at Del Mar Boulevard and Madison Avenue April 9. The 35-year-old rider of a black 2011 Ducati motorcycle was west on Del Mar Boulevard around 9:30 a.m. The driver of a gray 2010 Hyundai Elantra sedan pulled out in front of the rider south across Del Mar from a Madison stop sign and was broadsided, according to preliminary information from Pasadena Police.
The 24-year-old female driver of the sedan remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The sedan’s driver may not have seen the rider traveling west and pulled out in front of him, Pasadena Police said. PASADENA - Firefighters are conducting a hazardous materials investigation in the 800 block of South Raymond Avenue. Firefighters were dispatched to the 800 block of South Raymond Avenue at 5:26 p.m. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - The Pasadena Police Department is scheduled to launch a DUI/driver license checkpoint Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. The checkpoint will take place at an undisclosed location until 3 a.m. Saturday, March 23. Checkpoint locations are based on collision statistics and the frequency of DUI arrests, the Pasadena Police Department said. “Pasadena Police Department wants to remind everyone that ‘DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.’ Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and marijuana can all be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs,” Pasadena Police said.
In Pasadena last year there were 84 DUI collisions which took one life and injured 58 people, Pasadena Police said. “This is our fourth DUI operation rounding out the month of March. DUI arrests are completely preventable. A Sig Alert, issued at 4:08 a.m., has been extended to around 9 a.m. and affects the westbound HOV, No. 1, 2 , 3 and 4 lanes of traffic at Sierra Madre Villa. only the No. 5 lane is open, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred just before 2 a.m.
The big rig and tractor trailer swerved across lanes and smashed through the divider. The driver was apparently uninjured in the crash, according to the CHP. No other vehicles were involved. Bus service replaces trains between the Sierra Madre Villa station and Lake station, according to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Witnesses saw the woman getting hit by a white vehicle in the area of Fair Oaks Avenue and Claremont Street around 7:20 p.m. The woman’s body was thrown underneath a parked vehicle, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The white vehicle reportedly fled northbound from the scene on Fair Oaks Avenue and should have major front end damage. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Drunk driving is suspected in a crash that tore apart two vehicles, sending debris into buildings and sending two drivers to the hospital.
The crash occurred around 3:02 a.m. at Colorado Boulevard and Wilson Avenue October 15. The driver of a black Dodge Charger allegedly ran a red light and struck a Honda Civic at high speed, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Buildings at the southwest corner of Colorado Boulevard and Wilson Avenue were damaged by flying debris. The Charger struck a wood pole as it came to rest on the west side of Wilson Avenue, Pasadena Police said. The driver of the Charger, a 26-year-old Pasadena woman, is believed to have been driving under the influence, Pasadena Police said. The driver of the Charger and the 43-year-old Pasadena woman driving the Civic received moderate injuries and are listed in stable condition. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Several lanes of the westbound and eastbound 210 freeway at Madre Street remain closed after a crash damaged equipment on the Gold Line right of way.
The crash occurred in westbound lanes of the 210 at Madre Street just after 7 a.m. October 13. The big rig landed one the Gold Line tracks after possibly swerving across multiple lanes of the freeway and smashed through the divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Sig Alert affects the HOV, No. 1 and 2 westbound lanes until Noon, according to Officer Peter Nicholson of the California Highway Patrol Traffic management Center. The semi somehow veered from the slow lane and through the divider, the CHP reported. The big rig driver was able to walk away from the rig, which eventually ignited, the CHP said. The driver’s injuries are unclear. There are no Gold Line trains running between the Allen Station and Sierra Madre Villa Station. Bus bridges are moving Gold Line passengers between the mention stations, according to Los Angeles Metro officials. |
