The collision occurred in westbound lanes of the 210 freeway near Sierra Madre Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. A fire ignited after the collision occurred, which was reported around 6:08 p.m. August 15. The westbound HOV and No. 1 lane are blocked until at least 7:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Trains in both directions are stopped. It is unclear if there has been any damage to Gold Line equipment. The officer-involved shooting occurred around 4:36 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Raymond Avenue January 11. No officers were injured in the shooting and the suspect was not hit by gunfire, according to Lt. Jason Clawson of the Pasadena Police Department.
Clawson was not yet notified of the circumstances that led to the gunfire.
The suspect is in custody and his handgun is recovered, Clawson said. Traffic at the scene is being impacted near North Raymond and East Tremont Street. Clawson advises motorists to avoid the area. Theodore Bancarz, 34, was taken into custody during the investigation into the suspicious item, a six-to-eight-inch cylinder fashioned with wires, which was found under a U-Haul truck in the 500 block of South Raymond Avenue October 29. The details of Bancarz’s arrest are not clear. Bancarz told Pasadena Police that the cylinder was used to carry drugs. Businesses within a 10-block radius were evacuated after the device was reported sometime around 6 p.m. Traffic on the 110 freeway at Fair Oaks Avenue and Gold Line service were interrupted during the investigation. A robot examined the device and eventually rendered it safe. The item was apparently benign. Francisco Javier Soto Cedillo, 24, was tracked down to his home in the 800 block of North Oakland Avenue. Cedillo and the vehicle he drove when he fatally struck a 27-year-old woman were both found at the residence, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Jessica Rivera Torres was struck as she crossed the 1100 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue Sunday, October 21, around 7:20 p.m. Torres was declared dead at the scene. Cedillo is being held in lieu of $85,000 bail and is additionally held on a DUI warrant, Pasadena Police said. County booking information for Cedillo was not yet available. The fire is burning near the eastbound 210 freeway east of the 710 freeway interchange, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. The fire was reported around 4:45 p.m. Firefighters have requested the California Highway Patrol transition lanes from the westbound 210 freeway to the southbound 710 freeway. The Walnut Street on ramp to the westbound 210 freeway will also be closed, both for one hour. |
