Family identified the teen as Iran Moreno-Balvaneda. The teen was reportedly in his room in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue Saturday around 6:12 p.m. when a bullet pierced through a window and struck him. Pasadena Police first arrived to the scene. “Life-saving measures were given by the officers. The fire department responded and quickly transported this 13-year-old to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased,” Burgess told SGV CityWatch. A suspect remains at-large. It is not publicly clear if the gun was fired at the home with intention, or if it was a stray bullet that unfortunately found a victim. Investigators have not said if they know where the gunfire came from. “The devil came to Pasadena yesterday,” Burgess said in Sunday morning interview. In a press conference November 21, Pasadena Police Chief John Perez said investigators have many hours of surveillance footage to wade through from the surrounding area to see if the gunman was nearby and that they intend to seek additional video. The teen was later declared dead at a hospital. First responders were called to a home in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue at 6:12 p.m. to a call of a gunshot victim, according to Lt. Anthony Burgess of the Pasadena Police Department. Pasadena Police first arrived to the scene. “Life-saving measures were given by the officers. Robert Anderson Cotton, 32, faces two counts of murder with an allegation of using a knife as a deadly and dangerous weapon. Cotton’s arraignment was continued to April 5. He is accused of killing mother Carol Brown, 67, and uncle Kenneth Preston, 69, at the house they all shared in the 3000 block of North Marengo Avenue March 22. The bodies were discovered after police were called around 2:50 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Marengo Avenue. Brown was a 15-year-member of Pasadena City College and was reportedly in the middle of a work meeting on Zoom when a suspect, later identified as Cotton, entered the room and kidnapped her. Coworkers called 9-1-1. Cotton was not at the scene when deputies arrived, but returned in a vehicle either belonging to Brown or Preston, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators. Both victims were sitting in a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of East Foothill Boulevard when a suspect approached and opened fire. A 23-year-old Azusa man died after being hospitalized. A 19-year-old Duarte woman was treated for injuries considered not life-threatening and released from the hospital, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Police responded to the scene just before 9 p.m. Saturday to find the man had been shot multiple times. The woman had minor injuries. Detectives believe one man was responsible for the shooting. He fled the scene after the gunfire. He is described as a Black male in dark-colored clothing, Pasadena Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Police announced the arrest of a man investigators quickly identified as a suspect in the murder of a Glendale woman whose body was found at Hahamonga Watershed Park. Pasadena resident Adrian Robert Casey, 26, was located and detained by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department near Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is awaiting extradition, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Casey, a parolee, is accused of stabbing to death Elena Ledford, 49. A jogger happened upon Ledford’s body the morning of November 24. Casey and Ledford were acquainted, but investigators declined to specify how the two knew each other. Casey apparently left California shortly after the killing, Pasadena Police said. Investigators stated Ledford was killed in a parking lot at La Cañada High School, 4463 Oak Grove Dr., which is across the road from where her body was found. Pasadena investigators are in New Mexico to continue their investigation.
Ledford worked for Pasadena-based organization Union Station Homeless Services for the last three years. A murder charge was filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. “Elena was more than a beloved employee and coworker, she was a member of our Union Station Family. We are thankful for the support of law enforcement agencies in their investigation of Elena’s death. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Ledford Family for this unfathomable loss, and we are thinking of Elena’s parents, daughter, sister, and her friends and family during this terrible time,” according to a statement issued by Union Station Homeless Services. The victim is Ernesto Jimenez, 27. He was identified by Sarah Ardalani, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Shots rang out around 8:09 p.m. in the 200 block of Parke Street. Officers found Jimenez unresponsive on the sidewalk and attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Investigators believe Jimenez was walking south on the sidewalk when one or more suspects shot at him. Jimenez was hit numerous times in the upper torso and attempted to run, but he collapsed, Pasadena Police said. Detectives are following up on multiple leads. Enrique Antonio Real, a 19-year-old Baldwin Park man, allegedly killed Altadena man Christopher Flores in a parking lot at CVS, 20 E. Orange Grove Blvd. September 11. Officers responded to calls of a stabbing in progress. Officers found Flores, 30, bleeding on the ground. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died, according to the Pasadena Police Department.
Eye witnesses helped police track down Real near the scene of the stabbing. A bloodied knife and other evidence was confiscated, Pasadena Police said. There is no known motive for the stabbing. Real allegedly was walking alongside Flores and began stabbing him multiple times, Pasadena Police said. Real is being held in lieu of more than $2 million ahead of his second scheduled court date on October 21. The shooting occurred May 23 in the 1500 block of North Lake Avenue around 4:10 p.m. Officers found two men wounded by gunfire. Ray Magee Jr., 24, died at a hospital. A 23-year-old man is recovering from his injuries, according to the Pasadena Police Department. There were at least two suspects involved in the shooting. Both escaped in a 2017 silver Dodge Charger that featured tinted windows. The last two numbers on the license plate are “50,” Pasadena Police said.
One suspect is a Black man believed to be 25 to 30 years old, has a light complexion, weighs 170 to 180 pound and stands from 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - A man was arrested last week, accused by investigators of gunning down a Pasadena man found dead on Angeles Crest Highway. 30-year-old Daniel Cervantes, from Pasadena, was found and arrested by the U.S. Marshal Service in the 1600 block of Brigden Road in Pasadena. Cervantes was arrested around 12:15 p.m. November 7 and is being held without bail, according to Los Angeles County booking records.
A motive is still being sought in the killing of 22-year-old Julio Robles-Castaneda, whose dead body was discovered by a driver on Angeles Crest Highway near mile marker 26.87 November 6. Cervantes made an initial appearance in Pasadena Superior Court November 12. He is next scheduled to appear in court December 4. |
