Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Detectives are looking for more potential victims of a mental health therapist who is accused of sexually assaulting two women. Edgar Gustavo Villamarin, 64, is most recently accused of assaulting a woman November 16, 2018 in his Pasadena office. Detectives were able to link Villamarin to another sex assault accusation from January 2016, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Villamarin was arrested November 27, posted $25,000 bail and was released the same day. He faced arraingment January 10 and posted $450,000 bail. Villamarin was charged January 9 with two counts of assault with intent to commit a felony, one count of attempted sexual battery by restraint, two counts of false imprisonment by violence and two counts of sexual battery by restraint, Pasadena Police said.
The assaults occurred at Villamarin’s office, 86 Orange Place, during scheduled appointments, Pasadena Police said. Villamarin has held various titles during his career, such as marriage and family therapist, clinical supervisor, therapist and program director, for nearly 45 years, according to his website. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences online records show Villamarin’s marriage and family therapist license was revoked in 1998 for unspecified reasons. He was placed on a five-year probation. His current active license expires in 2020. Villamarin is scheduled for another court appearance February 28.
