Only 25 calls for service were outlined in the community brief, but among those 25, police responded to eight calls for service of gunfire. The full community brief can be read here. SHOOTINGS August 7, 1:33 a.m.: Police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 600 block of North Mar Vista Avenue. No victims were found, but evidence of gunfire was located. August 14, 1:15 a.m.: Officers responded to a gunfire call near Del Mar Boulevard and Oak Knoll Avenue. A caller told officers gunfire erupted after a group of people began arguing. Police detained the group. Evidence of a shooting was found in the middle of the street, as well as a firearm discarded under the vehicle. Officers arrested the suspect(s) accused in the shooting. No victims were found. August 17, 2:28 a.m.: Police responded to a shooting victim near Colorado Boulevard and Hill Avenue. A victim with a gunshot wound was located. Officers were told the shooting occurred near Harkness Avenue and Walnut Street. Evidence of a shooting was found. The victim told officers at least one suspect in a vehicle fired upon him, striking him in a leg. The driver of the vehicle initially pulled up to the victim and multiple occupants exited. The victim continued past the vehicle, which then passed him moments later. Gunfire was heard and the victim felt pain in his leg. The suspects fled. August 28, 6:51 p.m.: Police responded to near Belmont Avenue and Wyoming Street to investigate a gunfire call and vehicles fleeing the area. No victims, or suspects were found, but evidence of a shooting was located. August 29, 6:52 a.m.: A man was seen shooting at a passing vehicle in the 1800 block of Navarro Avenue. Officers arrived and found evidence of a shooting. Both the suspect and intended victim were gone when officer arrived. August 29, 9:16 a.m.: Multiple rounds of gunfire were heard in the 1600 block of Navarro Avenue. Officers found evidence of gunfire and also found a wounded victim. The victim, who was uncooperative with police, was hospitalized with injuries considered not life-threatening. August 29: While investigating the shooting in the 1800 block of Navarro Avenue, officers heard gunfire in the area. Two female drivers were contacted by officers and said they were fired upon, but not wounded. Their vehicles were struck multiple times by gunfire. An incorrect time was published by Pasadena Police. August 31, 10:23 a.m.: Multiple gunshots were reported in the 1300 block of Navarro Avenue. Officers found evidence of a shooting, but no victims or suspects. Staff at a nearby hospital called Pasadena Police to report a gunshot victim in his 40s showed up with a wound considered not life-threatening. The victim was uncooperative with police. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA - A man and woman implicated in a shooting July 4 were taken into custody August 19 after being tracked to a San Dimas home, the Pasadena Police Department said.
Kimberly Ann Troncoso, 34 and Jay Aaron Castillo, 26, were arrested in San Dimas by detectives From the Pasadena Police Robbery/Homicide Unit. Detectives also confiscated evidence, including multiple firearms during the execution of a search warrant, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m. July 4 and the 1300 block of Ridge Way. Officers responding to a shots fired call discovered evidence that an unknown number of suspects fired into an inhabited home. They also determined that no one was wounded in the shooting, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Using investigative techniques, detectives determined that Troncoso and Castile, both San Dimas residents, were directly involved in the shooting. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one felony charge each of shooting add a habit of dwelling against both suspects August 23. Troncoso is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail. Castillo is being held in lieu of $260,000 bail, the Pasadena Police Department said. Troncoso is being held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Los Angeles, while Castillo is being held in Men’s Central Jail. Both are scheduled to appear in Pasadena Superior Court, Wednesday, August 25. Robert Murray Jones lll, 20, was captured August 5 after officers in the Pasadena Police Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant at a Victorville home, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Jones allegedly admitted to shooting the victim, said it was an accident. Pasadena Police officers were dispatched to St. John Avenue and California Boulevard around 10:35 p.m. July 29 to a report of a man screaming that he had been shot, according to the Pasadena Police Department. During a search of the area, police were notified by staff that a man with a gunshot wound to his neck was dropped off at Huntington Memorial Hospital, Pasadena Police said. The victim was treated and is expected to recover. After detectives with the Pasadena Police Violent Crimes Division identified the shooting scene in the 1900 block of Mentone Avenue, they also seized ballistic evidence, Pasadena Police said. Felony charges against Jones were filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office: assault with a deadly weapon and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. Altadena man Joseph Mekhi Knowles, 21, and 22-year-old Tanaj Johnson from Pasadena were identified after months of detective work, arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder in the February 14 shooting, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The boy was shot several times around 3 p.m. in the 300 block of Parke Street. Gunmen exited a late-model, light-colored four-door sedan, opened fire and fled in the vehicle, Pasadena Police said in a written statement. “There is nothing to indicate the 10-year-old was the intended victim of this senseless act of violence,” Pasadena Police said in a written statement. The boy, identified as Mario Ramirez, was seriously wounded. Johnson was already in custody, arrested April 19, for unrelated crimes when he was arrested May15. Knowles was jailed May 20. Johnson is accused of being one of three suspects in the fatal shooting of a man in Pasadena March 29. The U.S. Marshal Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted Pasadena Police detectives in executing search warrants at undisclosed locations May 20. Evidence tying both Knowles and Johnson to the shooting was seized, Pasadena Police said. Pasadena detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office May 24, which formally filed one charge each of attempted murder, Pasadena Police said. Both victims were sitting in a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of East Foothill Boulevard when a suspect approached and opened fire. A 23-year-old Azusa man died after being hospitalized. A 19-year-old Duarte woman was treated for injuries considered not life-threatening and released from the hospital, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Police responded to the scene just before 9 p.m. Saturday to find the man had been shot multiple times. The woman had minor injuries. Detectives believe one man was responsible for the shooting. He fled the scene after the gunfire. He is described as a Black male in dark-colored clothing, Pasadena Police said. The boy was wounded while playing outside in the area of Park Street and Garfield Avenue around 3 p.m. February 14, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The boy suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The boy, who was shot multiple times, was apparently conscious and talking with first responders while being transported to an area hospital. Possibly as many as two suspects exited a vehicle and opened fire on an unknown target while the boy was playing outside his home. The suspect or suspects reentered a late-model four-door sedan, which was driven from the scene. The boy’s current condition is not publicly known. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor PASADENA – Evidence found during two arrest and search warrants helped connect two men to a shooting that left a victim in critical condition, police said Wednesday. The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Wheeler Alley December 25 around 2:16 p.m. The 35-year-old victim wound up at a Pasadena fire station at Fair Oaks Avenue and Hammond Street and was treated at a nearby hospital, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The subsequent investigation helped identify suspects. Their involvement was solidified after the execution of the arrest and search warrants January 14.
Arrested were Pasadena man Alberto Esparza, 26, and Alhambra man Victor Zamora Macias, 33. Both men were booked on suspicion of attempted murder. The charges were filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Macias is being held in lieu of $2 million bail; Esparza is being held in lieu of more than $1 million bail. Assisting Pasadena Police with the arrest and search warrants was the Pacific Southwest Regional Task Force. A third shooting victim remains in critical, but stable condition, according to the Pasadena Police Department. It is believed that all three victims were sitting on a bench adjacent to the soccer field at Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa St., in the northeast corner of the park when gunfire rang out just before 3 p.m. December 1. It is unclear how many suspects were involved in the shooting. A dark-colored sedan was seen leaving the area. One victim died at the scene. The two others were taken to a hospital where one victim was declared dead, Pasadena Police said. The victim is Ernesto Jimenez, 27. He was identified by Sarah Ardalani, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Shots rang out around 8:09 p.m. in the 200 block of Parke Street. Officers found Jimenez unresponsive on the sidewalk and attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Investigators believe Jimenez was walking south on the sidewalk when one or more suspects shot at him. Jimenez was hit numerous times in the upper torso and attempted to run, but he collapsed, Pasadena Police said. Detectives are following up on multiple leads.
