Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Two burglary suspects were arrested after they fled a home when police arrested their waiting driver.
Officers responded to the 1800 block of Anita Crest around 11:43 a.m. to a burglary in progress. The witness reported a vehicle pulling up to a home and seeing two Black subjects enter a rear yard, Arcadia Police said. The two suspects fled the home and left in the waiting vehicle. Officers combed the area looking for the suspect vehicle, eventually locating it and detained the driver. The two burglary suspects were then spotted fleeing the area by hopping residential fences. A helicopter helped officers on the ground locate the two outstanding suspects. Arrested were Jemia Kirk, 18, from Lancaster; Justin Taylor, 19, from Palmdale; and an unidentified teen boy from Pasadena. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A man who masked himself by wearing a motorcycle helmet robbed a Verizon store of several cell phones Tuesday morning.
The suspect entered the Verizon store, 655 W. Duarte Rd. around 10 a.m. and displayed a handgun during the crime. He then fled the store and sped off on a copper and black-colored Suzuki motorcycle, said Lt. Tom Cullen of the Arcadia Police Department. Monrovia Police officers quickly learned of the crime and located a possible matching motorcycle in their city at Duarte Road and Myrtle Avenue, said Sgt. William Burkhalter of the Monrovia Police Department. The rider sped off and entered the eastbound 210 freeway, fleeing pursuing Monrovia officers at more than 100 miles per hour. The suspect quickly got away from Monrovia police, who last saw the suspect eastbound on the freeway at Sunflower Avenue in Glendora. The rider wore a black helmet, black jacket, dark pants and a blue backpack. Details are few, but the woman was pulled by Arcadia Firefighters around 7:06 p.m. Rescuers were initially dispatched at 6:36 p.m. to Clark and Peck regarding the victim. Due to the proximity of the woman, the investigation will likely be handed off to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Park Bureau, according to Sgt. Kollin Cieadlo of the Arcadia Police Department. “When we arrived down there, fire was already at the scene rendering aid,” Cieadlo said. The woman’s condition was not immediately known. The crime was reported around 3 p.m. at the store, 733 W. Naomi Ave. One suspect entered the store and asked to see a Chanel handbag. After placing the handbag on her shoulder, she walked around the store in search of more purses. Her three accomplices then entered and began taking bags, Arcadia Police said. The four thieves grabbed as many handbags as they could carry and fled the store, entered a vehicle and drove away west on Naomi Avenue. The suspects are three Black women and one Black man, all 18 to 23 years old. The value of the stolen merchandise was not disclosed. Police responding to a call of a person down in a McDonald’s parking lot, 143 E. Foothill Blvd., found the 82-year-old victim. He was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, Arcadia Police said. Officers discovered another man punched the 82-year-old victim several times. A 24-year-old West Covina man was found and determined to be the suspect. Arrested was Felipe Herrera-Luna. He was booked on suspicion of elder abuse and possessing drug paraphernalia. |
