Police were called to a home on East Pamela Road just before 4 p.m. The victim was on Facebook and believed she was receiving legitimate financial advice from a friend regarding a grant offered to retired people, according to the Arcadia Police Department.
The victim somehow gave $5,000 to the suspect, but later determined her friend’s account was likely hacked and the grant was a scam, Arcadia Police said. The investigation is ongoing. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Two men entered a hair salon and stole a purse and bag after one suspect brandished a handgun at the patrons Saturday, July 13. The incident unfolded at D2 Hair Salon 556 Las Tunas Dr., at 12:20 p.m. The suspect entered the salon from the rear of the property, according to the Arcadia Police Department. One suspect was heavyset, the other described as thin. There was no other description available for either suspect. The investigation is ongoing, Arcadia Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Detectives are trying to determine who burned an American flag after removing it from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The flag was found burned at the church, 614 W. Foothill Blvd., just after 6:13 p.m. Wednesday, July 3. The vandalism is believed to have occurred between July 2 and July 3, according to the Arcadia Police Department. At the time the department prepared its Weekly Report, no suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A male received a mysterious gunshot wound to the knee and checked himself into a San Gabriel hospital Independence Day. Arcadia officers were called to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, 438 West Las Tunas Dr., around 9:06 p.m. July 4. The victim did not recall being shot, according to the Arcadia Police Department.
“He remembered being behind Aldi, 1403 South Baldwin Avenue, when he felt dizzy and asked a friend to transport him to the hospital,” Arcadia Police said in a written statement. The investigation is ongoing. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Three 17-year-olds were arrested June 28, found to be on probation for a variety of crimes and found possessing burglary tools. An officer stopped a vehicle without a front license plate just before 2:22 p.m. at Greenfield Avenue and Live Oak Avenue. After discovering the 18-year-old driver from Lakewood had no driver license, police searched and found burglary tools inside, Arcadia Police said.
A records check revealed the teen passengers, two from Los Angeles and one from Lynwood, were on probation for robbery, burglary and other crimes, Arcadia Police said. The teens were booked at the Arcadia jail. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A fight and robbery occurred after a confrontation between a dancer’s ex-husband and current boyfriend at a gentleman’s club June 29. The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. at Knockouts Gentleman’s Club, 1580 Clark Street. The altercation between the two men led the ex-husband and seven of the ex’s friends to punch, kick and stomp on the boyfriend, according to the Arcadia Police Department.
The boyfriend’s wallet, keys and cellphone were stolen, Arcadia Police said. The boyfriend declined medical attention. Knockouts touts itself as a topless sports bar. |
