The 4 a.m. attack stemmed over two women fighting for the same man. During an argument at the Arcadia station, one woman pulled out a small axe and struck the other two to three times, according to Kari Mercer, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. Deputies were called to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena around 5:30 a.m. June 19 where the victim spilled the beans of the attack. In addition to the three-quarter inch laceration and punctured nose, the victim was also bit on her left elbow, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. Deputies located the 38-year-old suspect at the Arcadia station June 23 around 2 p.m. and arrested her. She was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. Both victim and suspects are unhoused, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - An L Line train bound for Los Angeles struck and wounded a pedestrian as the train approached the Arcadia Station late Sunday night.
The collision occurred near First Avenue and Santa Clara Street around 10:49 p.m. September 5. Officers responded to the scene, located the pedestrian and called for medical help. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The pedestrian’s current condition is not immediately known. at 11:12 p.m., the Metropolitan Transportation Authority summoned shuttles for passengers as train service stopped between the Sierra Madre Villa Station and Monrovia Station. At 7:22 a.m. Monday, Metro authorities announced train service resumed. Road closures are in effect immediately near the Arcadia L Line station, 200 N. 1st Ave., as deputies await the arrival of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail, according to Ramon Montenegro, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. The Metro Emergency Security Operations Center notified deputies around 8:40 a.m. after discovering the suspicious item on top of the patrol vehicle through a security camera, Montenegro told SGV CityWatch. Montenegro declined to describe what the item looks like. A bus bridge is being requested for passengers, as there is no L Line service to or from the Arcadia station, according to The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. “There’s CCTV footage in the area and our investigators are reviewing it now,” Montenegro told SGV CityWatch. A red iPhone XR was taken by force at the Arcadia Gold Line Station, 201 N. 1st Ave., just before 9 a.m. February 27. The suspect fled on foot east on East Santa Clara Street and out of view, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. The suspect is a Black man in his 20s and stands 6 feet 2 inches tall. He wore black clothing and red shoes. It is unclear what is burning, but the California Highway Patrol has shut down the HOV and No. 1 lane at Baldwin Avenue. The CHP reports the fire was burning on the tracks. The fire was reported at 3:32 p.m. At least two callers reported to the CHP that a fire was burning on the tracks at Baldwin Avenue. |
