CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Sheriff’s Homicide detectives now publicize that the Arcadia shooting from Tuesday night was committed by an intruder. The shooting occurred in a home on Woodland Lane near Hacienda Drive just before 6:30 p.m. Police responded to a call of a gunshot victim and an intruder at the location. The publicly unidentified victim died at a hospital. Homicide investigator Lt. Steven DeJong told KTLA News that the shooting was possibly personally motivated. A mother and 13-year-old son arrived home and discovered someone forced entry. They were met by the intruder and the mother and son were led into the home to discover the 61-year-old father and husband was shot in the stomach, according to KTLA News. The 13-year-old called for help. It appears nothing was taken from the home. Three residents died and two were taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries. First responders were called to the 5300 block of Tyler Avenue in unincorporated Arcadia just after 1 a.m. January 2. The fire possibly started in an attached garage. Firefighters arrived and found smoke and fire showing from both the house and garage. The fire was knocked down by 1:31 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. One of the fatalities is described as a man who apparently ascended a staircase to the second floor where two victims were trapped. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A man found dead in a flood control channel Thursday morning died accidentally after attempting to crawl over a fence to gain access to an apartment complex, investigators said Friday.
The body was discovered Thursday, August 24. The man apparently was trying to gain access to the apartment complex to retrieve property from his friend’s unit that he visited the previous night, according to Det. Sanchez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Firefighters were called to an EMS report at that location around 7:40 a.m. Thursday and left without transporting anybody, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The man was unable to walk into the property and could not drive in. He attempted to scale a fence around 8:40 p.m. the previous night and then fell in to the flood control channel. Security video from nearby led investigators to this conclusion, Sanchez told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A 21-year-old woman accused of holding a knife while advancing on an Arcadia Police officer is in stable condition Sunday after being shot.
The officer shot the woman in the upper torso after she pulled a kitchen knife tucked in her pocket, raised it above her shoulders and advanced toward the Officer, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Arcadia. Police officers were called to a report of a person armed with a knife around 9:09 p.m. Saturday, August 12. The mother of the suspect called on her own daughter. During the investigation, the suspect was seen exiting the location. She re-entered that location only to exit one more time and she began advancing towards the officer. “The officer ordered the disturbing party to show her hands. She kept advancing toward the officer, and at one point, removed a kitchen knife from her pocket. She then began running toward the officer with the knife raised above her shoulders, holding it in a stabbing position. At this time, an officer-involved shooting occurred,” according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau in a written statement. Officers rendered medical aid to the suspect until paramedics, arrived to continue treatment and transported her to a nearby hospital. The 4 a.m. attack stemmed over two women fighting for the same man. During an argument at the Arcadia station, one woman pulled out a small axe and struck the other two to three times, according to Kari Mercer, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. Deputies were called to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena around 5:30 a.m. June 19 where the victim spilled the beans of the attack. In addition to the three-quarter inch laceration and punctured nose, the victim was also bit on her left elbow, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. Deputies located the 38-year-old suspect at the Arcadia station June 23 around 2 p.m. and arrested her. She was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. Both victim and suspects are unhoused, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. ARCADIA - Bomb squad technicians have been called to investigate a suspicious item reportedly placed on top of a parked Sheriff’s patrol vehicle at the L Line Arcadia station Saturday morning. Road closures are in effect immediately near the Arcadia L Line station, 200 N. 1st Ave., as deputies await the arrival of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail, according to Ramon Montenegro, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. The Metro Emergency Security Operations Center notified deputies around 8:40 a.m. after discovering the suspicious item on top of the patrol vehicle through a security camera, Montenegro told SGV CityWatch. Montenegro declined to describe what the item looks like. A bus bridge is being requested for passengers, as there is no L Line service to or from the Arcadia station, according to The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. “There’s CCTV footage in the area and our investigators are reviewing it now,” Montenegro told SGV CityWatch. The shooting occurred in the 2800 block of Caroline Way near La Tunas Avenue. Officers found in a rear yard a conscious man in his 20s shot in the back and his left leg. He was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic.
It is unclear if police found additional victims. Two of several vehicles seen fleeing the neighborhood at high speed were stopped. One SUV had a spent shell casing inside.
