CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Threats of violence with a handgun prompted a lockdown and search of Westfield Santa Anita Wednesday. Police are confident the call was a hoax. An unknown caller stated he had a weapon and was threatening a patron. The call was made around 4:52 p.m., according to the Arcadia Police Department. Kick live streamer ZavalaHimself was taking a very young fan and her mother on a shopping spree when someone apparently called police on them. The harrowing scene unfolded live on his Kick profile. Officers locked down the mall and searched the property. Officers could be seen and heard on the live stream ordering everyone in the shop one by one to drop to the ground. Surveillance footage caught the man and woman committing grand theft between 11:47 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. at Victoria’s Secret, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., according to the Arcadia Police Department.
The first suspect is a male Black in his 30s and stands 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a green and white t-shirt and blue denim pants. The teen boy fled after failing to take the victim’s purse. He fled into a waiting red, four-door sedan, that possibly displayed a personalized or paper plate, according to Arcadia Police. The attempted robbery occurred around 7:27 p.m. The teen boy is described as Hispanic. He wore a red shirt and blue jeans. The victim could not see the driver through the tinted windows, said Lt. Mike Castro of the Arcadia Police Department. The red sedan fled northbound out of Gate 8. |
