The victim, a 52-year-old Arcadia woman, was crossing the street in the 1100 block of West Duarte Road around 3:27 p.m. when she was struck. Paramedics treated the woman at the scene and took her to a nearby hospital where she died, according to Lt. Mike Castro of the Arcadia Police Department. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, Castro said.
Arcadia Police collision investigators had Duarte Road between Sunset Boulevard and Oak Avenue blocked to traffic for nearly three hours. The roadway was opened by 6:15 p.m., Arcadia Police said. One fire was extinguished around 8 a.m. at First Avenue and Colorado Boulevard November 9. Later that night, a second fire was extinguished around 9:30 p.m. in the 400 block of East Santa Clara Street at the bottom of a 210 freeway off ramp, Arcadia Police said. “Arson investigators identified a person of interest during the investigation that possessed a cigarette lighter,” Arcadia Police said. The 28-year-old man was detained and he eventually confessed to starting the two fires, Arcadia Police said. The suspect was taken into custody. Police were called to investigate the burglary at 8:09 a.m. at the store, 11746 Clark St. The suspect forced entry through the main door and took backpacks and a box of t-shirts, according to the Arcadia Police Department. “Unknown suspect(s) ... punctured a hole in the wall in an attempt to enter the adjoining office,” Arcadia Police said. No suspects were seen and thee were no witnesses to the burglary. Sergio Regalado, 25, was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence with prior convictions and felony evading officers, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Pasadena Police attempted to stop Regalado around 9:13 p.m. after a Good Samaritan followed him from the 110 freeway to Pasadena city streets. Regalado sped away from officers. Due to his erratic driving, a helicopter tracked his movements, Pasadena Police said. Sheriff’s deputies began pursuing Regalado as he entered their jurisdiction. Deputies followed Regalado from Old Ranch and Huntington Drive as he nearly hit pedestrians, ran red lights and sped along city streets. The pursuit went into San Gabriel where Regalado almost got caught in a cul-de-sac, but he wormed his way past deputies to keep the pursuit alive. Regalado crashed into two civilian vehicles at Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia. One of the civilian vehicles flipped and came to rest on its side. Both Regalado and a driver in one of the other vehicles were both briefly hospitalized. Officers were called to McDonald’s, 143 E. Foothill Blvd. Officers arrived, located the woman and during a consensual search, located a meth pipe and methamphetamine, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The 30-year-old woman was cited and released back into the public. Frederick Celistan, 63, was last seen at his home in the 700 block of West Duarte Road around 9 p.m. November 2, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Celistan is 6 feet tall, 170 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve blue fleece shirt, black pants and black shoes.
