Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A suspected DUI driver led police and Sheriff’s deputies on a reckless pursuit that ended with a three-vehicle crash in Arcadia November 5.
Sergio Regalado, 25, was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence with prior convictions and felony evading officers, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Pasadena Police attempted to stop Regalado around 9:13 p.m. after a Good Samaritan followed him from the 110 freeway to Pasadena city streets. Regalado sped away from officers. Due to his erratic driving, a helicopter tracked his movements, Pasadena Police said. Sheriff’s deputies began pursuing Regalado as he entered their jurisdiction. Deputies followed Regalado from Old Ranch and Huntington Drive as he nearly hit pedestrians, ran red lights and sped along city streets. The pursuit went into San Gabriel where Regalado almost got caught in a cul-de-sac, but he wormed his way past deputies to keep the pursuit alive. Regalado crashed into two civilian vehicles at Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia. One of the civilian vehicles flipped and came to rest on its side. Both Regalado and a driver in one of the other vehicles were both briefly hospitalized. |
