Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA – A man accused of punching his 71-year-old mother repeatedly Thursday surrendered after barricading himself inside a home, police said.
Michael Jonathan Price, 31, fled into the home in the 400 block of East Camino Real Avenue when officers attempted to speak with him during a battery investigation. Officers evacuated nearby residents as a precaution. Officers responded to the home at 9:41 a.m. Price surrendered at 2:51 p.m. and residents were allowed back into their homes. The 71-year-old mother was treated for injuries considered not life-threatening. Price was booked on suspicion of elder abuse and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail. An anonymous caller reported seeing a blue Volvo flee the area after two men bro into the mailboxes in the area of South First Avenue and Diamond Street around 1:29 p.m. October 31. The three suspects were detained after officers found the blue Volvo parked in a nearby alley, according to the Arcadia Police Department. After a search of the vehicle, officers located the stolen items and burglary tools. All three suspects were arrested and booked on suspicion of mail theft and possession of burglary tools, according to the Arcadia Police Department. |
