Both suspects, 30-year-old Rosemead man Dan Lopez and 38-year-old Tao Mach of Diamond Bar, were detained during a traffic stop after officers were alerted that the vehicle the suspects were in had entered the city, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Officers were alerted to the vehicle entering the city at 4:06 a.m. December 23. Both suspects were booked on a variety of charges, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A man, a woman and three juveniles were taken into custody Thursday after officers reportedly found a burglary tool and suspected stolen property during a traffic stop.
Officers discovered the items during a traffic stop in the area of Camino Real Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue. The traffic stop was conducted around 3:14 p.m. December 22. Arcadia Police detectives and a local task force investigated the vehicle, tied to a previous burglary, and a second vehicle, believing an additional burglary occurred. “Officers later attempted to locate the additional burglary, but they were unsuccessful. During a search of both vehicles, a burglary tool seen on video from yesterday’s burglary, and suspected stolen property, were found. Additionally, unique clothing tied to another burglary was located,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. Given the evidence discovered, detectives believed the suspects intended on committing another burglary. Officers attempted to stop the U-Haul seen leaving the area of a burglary alarm call in the 11000 block of Clark Street December 17 around 3 a.m., according to the Arcadia Police Department. “Officers conducted their initial investigation and discovered property from the victim business, a sledge hammer, bolt cutters, and flashlights,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. A West Covina man and a Los Angeles man were both arrested. Amongst the charges are commercial burglary, evading a peace officer and possession of burglary tools. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA – An Oxnard man already on probation for robbery was put behind bars December 9 after fleeing officers with a stolen package in tow and attempted to steal a vehicle after breaking into a resident’s home in North Hollywood.
The package, unbeknownst to the suspect, was a bait package featuring a hidden GPS device that alerted officers. The package was taken from the 200 block of East Magna Vista Avenue around 3:13 p.m., according to the Arcadia Police Department. Officers tracked the suspect’s movements through multiple cities. A brief pursuit was initiated into Burbank, but the chase was cancelled after the reckless suspect crashed into another vehicle and continued to flee, according to the Arcadia Police Department. A police helicopter was used to track the suspect into North Hollywood where he collided with two parked vehicles. He fled on foot. “While fleeing, the suspect entered a home in the 6600 block of Lernay Street in North Hollywood. He confronted the resident inside, stole car keys, and ran from the home,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. “The suspect attempted to steal a vehicle parked on the street but was unsuccessful.” Residents chased the suspect who continued to run. He hid in a rear yard in the 6600 block of Morella Avenue in North Hollywood where officers arrested the suspect without further incident. A search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed the bait package and multiple other pieces of stolen property. He was booked on suspicion of grand theft, evading a peace officer, burglary attempted vehicle theft, hit and run and for multiple outstanding warrants. The suspect, an Oxnard man, was held in lieu of $360,000 bail. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA – A search warrant help reveal a large-scale drug operation inside an Arcadia home, police said. A woman was arrested and 400 pounds of processed and packaged marijuana was seized as a result of a search warrant and ongoing investigation in the 1800 block of Oakwood, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Officers spoke with the woman during the ongoing investigation. They soon developed probably cause that a large-scale drug operation was occurring, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The unidentified woman was booked on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sales. The packaged marijuana was destroyed, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA – A 43-year-old Arcadia man was booked on suspicion of animal cruelty, negligent use of a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of narcotics for sales after he allegedly shot a dog November 27.
Officers were sent to the 700 block of West Lemon Avenue to the shooting call. The suspect re-entered his residence, but officers met with a woman who denied a man lived there. She consented to a search, according to the Arcadia Police Department. “After further questioning, officers were able to identify the suspect and determined he was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. Surveillance was conducted in the area and around 5:45 p.m. the suspect was spotted and detained. A search of the suspect’s home revealed large amounts of narcotics that appeared to be for sale, according to the Arcadia Police Department. |
