The 4 a.m. attack stemmed over two women fighting for the same man. During an argument at the Arcadia station, one woman pulled out a small axe and struck the other two to three times, according to Kari Mercer, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. Deputies were called to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena around 5:30 a.m. June 19 where the victim spilled the beans of the attack. In addition to the three-quarter inch laceration and punctured nose, the victim was also bit on her left elbow, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. Deputies located the 38-year-old suspect at the Arcadia station June 23 around 2 p.m. and arrested her. She was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. Both victim and suspects are unhoused, Mercer told SGV CityWatch. The male suspect is accused of swinging an axe at someone unprovoked around 8:49 a.m. January 7. The victim fled and contacted police who were directed to an electrical storage room where both suspects apparently broke into and were living in, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Logan Mychal Rachman, 42, of Arcadia and Stephanie Rose Ernst, 32, of La Verne, were arrested. Amongst the charges are burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. Rachman is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail. Ernst is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail in the Century Regional Detention Facility. Both are scheduled to appear in Pasadena Municipal Court Tuesday, January 10. Officers were sent to the 700 block of West Lemon Avenue to the shooting call. The suspect re-entered his residence, but officers met with a woman who denied a man lived there. She consented to a search, according to the Arcadia Police Department. “After further questioning, officers were able to identify the suspect and determined he was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. Surveillance was conducted in the area and around 5:45 p.m. the suspect was spotted and detained. A search of the suspect’s home revealed large amounts of narcotics that appeared to be for sale, according to the Arcadia Police Department. One of the suspects reportedly assaulted a female as she sat in her vehicle at the mall. The suspect entered her vehicle, struck her in the face and took her purse just before 12:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Ernest Lopez of the Arcadia Police Department. The suspect fled in a black BMW sedan. Both the suspect and vehicle match the descriptions given in similar crimes at the mall, Lopez said in a written statement. Around 2:38 p.m., police learned of a possible suspect vehicle seen parked at the mall. After conducting surveillance on the BMW sedan, a traffic stop was conducted, two occupants detained and stolen property from the crime just hours before was found, Lopez said. The two unidentified suspects were taken into custody and booked on suspicion of robbery. Lian Hui Yang was found standing in a driveway in the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard after police responded to a gunfire call around 10:06 p.m. February 17. A 17-year-old male was found wounded in one of his feet, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Yang and his 19-year-old neighbor allegedly began feuding earlier Thursday, but the fight was no reported to police. The feud continued that night. During the nighttime fight, the neighbor was helped by two friends: a 17-year-old and 19-year-old; the latter was not injured. The neighbor was allegedly punched in the head and complained of pain, according to the Arcadia Police Department. After being booked, Yang was transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pasadena Superior Court February 22. Michael Jonathan Price, 31, fled into the home in the 400 block of East Camino Real Avenue when officers attempted to speak with him during a battery investigation. Officers evacuated nearby residents as a precaution. Officers responded to the home at 9:41 a.m. Price surrendered at 2:51 p.m. and residents were allowed back into their homes. The 71-year-old mother was treated for injuries considered not life-threatening. Price was booked on suspicion of elder abuse and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail. Man Hides in Arcadia Residence After Allegedly Assaulting Mother, Throwing Knives at Police10/4/2021 Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA – Arcadia Police SWAT officers were able to get a man to surrender after allegedly throwing knives and a hatchet at them Sunday evening.
Police attempted to speak with the suspect who reportedly battered his mother. Officers were called to the residence and after officers attempted to speak with the suspect, he attacked them, according to Lt. Brett Bourgeous of the Arcadia Police Department. The incident occurred in the 400 block of East Live Oak Avenue around 6:39 p.m. “When officers attempted contact with the son at the front door of the apartment, he attacked them by throwing several knives and a hatchet at the officers,” Bourgeous said in a written statement. Officers were able to block the knife attacks and safely evacuated residents in neighboring apartment units. The suspect challenged officers to shoot him, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. The Arcadia Police Special Weapons and Tactics team was mobilized and negotiated with the suspect to surrender, which he ultimately did. The extent of the mother’s injuries is unclear. The unidentified suspect was booked on suspicion of felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and battery. He is being held in the Arcadia Police jail in lieu of $70,000 bail. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A domestic battery suspect was sentenced to four years in the slammer in the beating of the mother of his two children from 2019, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday. Robert Michael Mendez, 28, pleaded no contest in September of this year to one felony count of injuring a girlfriend or child’s parent, according to Deputy District Attormey Lisa Daruty. The beating took place in Mendez’s Arcadia Home September 29, 2019. When the victim attempted an escape, Mendez dragged her back to the home while beating her, Daruty said in a written statement. The incident was caught on security camera footage as the victim fled Mendez. The victim was hospitalized for her injuries. Mendez was found and arrested within the home in the 1500 block of South Santa Anita Avenue and arrested initially on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, false imprisonment and other charges, Arcadia Police said.
Officers were sent a link of the assault around 2 p.m. September 30. The video was believed to have taken place in the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Camino Real. Detectives canvassed the area and narrowed the location to the 1500 block of South Santa Anita where the woman and suspect were found, Arcadia Police said. Additional information led detectives to believe the assault took place around 11:40 p.m. September 29. “Investigation also revealed that the female victim had been held against her will inside the residence since late last evening,” Arcadia Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA – Police announced the arrest of a young man accused of sexual assault and exploitation of past and present Arcadia High School students. Dylan Chan, 18, was arrested June 30 at 2 p.m. and booked on suspicion of possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, using a minor for sex acts and sexual exploitation of a child, according to the Arcadia Police Department.
The arrest resulted from a search warrant served at Chan’s home June 24. Detectives seized evidence that led to the man’s arrest. Police were made aware of sex assault allegations leveled against Chad, a former Arcadia High School student, by female victims June 23. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A suspect, sought in an aggravated assault, is accused of hurting and imprisoning his ex girlfriend. Police were called to a home in the 1000 block of West Huntington Drive October 11 around 2:47 p.m. The victim alleged her ex falsely imprisoned her for six days, pushed her, threw a glass bottle at her and prevented her from calling 9-1-1, according to Arcadia Police in a written statement. The suspect, only identified as a 30-year-old Sierra Madre man, was still outstanding as of October 15, Arcadia Police said. |
