The attack and robbery occurred around 12:28 p.m. April 16 in the area of El Monte Avenue and Longden Avenue. The victim pulled to a curb and exited to inspect his truck bed’s contents. Three men approached and the victim was hit with the tire iron, Arcadia Police said. The victim’s wallet and cellphone were taken.
The victim declined medical treatment, Arcadia Police said. The suspects, only described as Black men in their 30s, fled the scene in a silver four-door sedan. The suspect took a package from the area of Huntington Drive and Michillinda Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. April 23. The suspect refused to stop for officers once found and evaded them, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The suspect in a grey 2015 four-door Kia Optima fled from officers at high speed, sometimes reaching 90 miles per hour on surface streets, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic.
Due to the unsafe speed, officers cancelled the pursuit near Rosemead Boulevard and Del Mar Boulevard in Pasadena, Arcadia Police said. When the GPS tracker became stationary, officers found the abandoned suspect vehicle near Del Mar Boulevard and Craig Avenue in Pasadena, Arcadia Police said. The vehicle was actually located in the 2100 block of San Pasqual Street. The stolen package was recovered and the suspect outstanding. One person has been detained, according to the Sierra Madre Police Department, which is assisting Arcadia officers with a yard-to-yard search. The search is being conducted in the area of West Floral Avenue and Rodeo Road. The search for the fleeing pursuit suspects began some time before 6 p.m. near the 210 freeway and Santa Anita Avenue. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Detectives are searching for a suspect or suspects involved in two nearly simultaneous pharmacy burglaries early Sunday. Officers responded to a pharmacy in the 600 block of West Duarte Road at 1:09 a.m. and found a shattered glass window. Officers found the business ransacked and cash taken from a register, Arcadia Police said. Four minutes later, officers responded to a pharmacy in the 1100 block of South Baldwin Avenue and found a glass door shattered. A bottle of medicine was taken from the pharmacy, but the suspect or suspects got more than they bargained for. “The bottle of medicine contained a GPS Tracker,” Arcadia Police said in a written statement.
Officers attempted to follow the location of the GPS tracker as it moved along surface streets. It then was tracked east on the 210 freeway until the tracker came to a halt on the east 210 freeway near Diamond Street in Monrovia. Officers searched and eventually recovered the GPS tracker, but they did not explicitly state if the bottle of medicine was recovered. There was no suspect or vehicle description provided. The victim, only described as a 76-year-old Asian woman, was found not breathing in the rear yard of her home in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue just before 7 a..m. April 9. The woman was declared dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Chyong Jen Tsai of Arcadia, according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The woman’s death was initially deemed suspicious, but detectives have not said how she died. A cause of death will be revealed by the county coroner.
The woman’s white 2005 Lexus RX 300 is missing from the location, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau. The Lexus sports license plate number 5LOG473. No suspect description or motive is known at this time. Anyone with information on the stolen vehicle’s whereabouts or on the death is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Officers arrived and found the female’s body in the rear yard of the home, according to Lt. Mike Castro of the Arcadia Police Department. It is not yet clear why the death is deemed suspicious.
Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are en route to investigate, Castro said. Officers were called to investigate the grand theft just after 9:30 p.m. A store employee witnessed three Black women and one Black man take the merchandise, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Police did not state if a getaway vehicle was seen fleeing the location. The structure fire was dispatched at 5:25 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Sixth Avenue. Flames have cause potential damage to adjacent structures, including an unspecified number of outbuildings, according to Arcadia Fire Department radio traffic. Arcadia firefighters report multiple intersections around the fire are out. The robbery occurred in the 100 block of East Huntington Drive around 7:40 p.m. April 1. Both suspects simulated weapons, but no weapons were actually seen, according to the Arcadia Police Department. One suspect is around 5 feet 8 inches tall and thin. He wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The second suspect is 5 feet 2 inches tall and thin. He also wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Both suspects ran north through a parking lot and westbound to the rear of 117 E. Huntington Dr. and out of sight, Arcadia Police said. |
