Police responding to a call of gunfire in the 800 block of South Sunset Boulevard around 8:20 a.m. found a husband and wife down in an alleyway, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The wife was pronounced dead at the scene. The husband was taken to an area hospital and later died, detectives said. The husband and wife were still married, but living separately, detectives learned. The husband is believed to have shot his wife before turning the gun on himself, detectives said. The weapon was recovered. The shooting occurred in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Okoboji Drive. Sunset Boulevard is closed to all traffic for the next several hours, Arcadia Police said in a written statement. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau are en route to handle the investigation. Police Responded to the area on reports of gunfire after 8 a.m. An emptied gun was found during the search and two people were found wounded, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. An Arcadia Police supervisor was unable to answer calls. An Arcadia Police dispatcher referred all media inquiries to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, but Homicide detectives have not received notification of the shooting.
