Darren Allen Fendrick, 39, was last seen Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Baldwin Avenue, heading west on foot towards Pasadena. Fendrick suffers from a mental condition and and needs his medication, Arcadia Police said. Fendrick is a white male, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 400 pounds. A clothing description was not provided. Anyone who knows Fendrick’s whereabouts is urged to call the Arcadia Police Department at 626-574-5151. The Fire’s size is unknown, but engines from Arcadia are being assisted by Monrovia firefighters and the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters were dispatched to Peck Road Park, 5401 Peck Rd., at 8:44 p.m. Firefighters declared knockdown at 9:20 p.m. The fire’s cause is under investigation. The suspect, 19-year-old Rome Washington of Los Angeles, was stopped in the 400 block of West Duarte Road around 1:34 a.m. for driving with his high beams on, Arcadia Police said. Upon contacting Rome, the officer witnessed the cloud of marijuana smoke coming from the vehicle, Arcadia Police said. “Through a series of field sobriety tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving under the influence of marijuana,” Arcadia Police said in a written statement. Washington was arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI and for a felony warrant. Officers were called to Arcadia Radiology Medical Group, 612 W. Duarte Rd., around 3:21 p.m. Officers believe the man jumped off the building, according to Lt. Roy Nakamura of the Arcadia Police Department. It was not immediately known how the man accessed the building to jump and end his life or where exactly the man was found. Police limited access to the parking lot during the investigation and advised people arriving to the parking lot to access the medical complex from the south on Naomi Avenue. The name of the man has yet to be released, pending notification of next of kin. An unknown suspect smashed through the front glass doors around 6:03 a.m. and ransacked the business, 12340 Lower Azusa Rd., according to the Arcadia Police Department. Police reviewed surveillance footage showing the suspect breaking and stealing checks and an undisclosed amount of cash, Arcadia Police said. The suspect drove off in a white Honda Accord. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 170 pounds and he wore a long-sleeve shirt and basketball shorts. The search began shortly after 3:15 p.m. Police responded after a neighbor reported a suspicious vehicle in the 2200 block of Highland Oaks Drive, according to Lt. Tom Cullen of the Arcadia Police Department. Cullen was unsure if the suspects made it into a residence, but the four suspects fled, forcing officers to set up a perimeter search. Officers have secured the suspect vehicle. The perimeter search is fairly localized within a small area around the affected Highland Oaks neighborhood, Cullen said. The suspects were initially described as Black men, some or all were dressed in red and black clothing, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. Police responding to a call of gunfire in the 800 block of South Sunset Boulevard around 8:20 a.m. found a husband and wife down in an alleyway, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The wife was pronounced dead at the scene. The husband was taken to an area hospital and later died, detectives said. The husband and wife were still married, but living separately, detectives learned. The husband is believed to have shot his wife before turning the gun on himself, detectives said. The weapon was recovered.
