CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A man described as having a 20-year career as a girls soccer coach and teacher was arrested December 11, accused of possessing child porn. Justin Akio Yasutake, 39, was arrested without further incident outside his Pasadena home. A social media user told Arcadia Police officers that an unknown user sent messages inquiring about underage females. The unknown user also allegedly sent videos of a male masturbating to images of underage females, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Yasutake was officially charged with one count of possession of child pornography December 13. The criminal complaint alleges he possessed more than 600 images of child sex abuse material, including 10 or more images of a prepubescent minor, or a minor under 12, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Police were contacted November 11. Detectives allege that Yasutake was involved in the messing. A search warrant was written and executed for Yasutake’s electronic devices. Detectives discovered numerous videos and images of underage girls engaging in sexual activity, according to the Arcadia Police Department. An arrest warrant was obtained, leading to Yasutake being taken into custody. A quick Internet search reveals Yasutake having coached a number of teams, including F.C. Golden State, a youth soccer club based in Pasadena. As recently as 2018, he coached a G2008 team, which is composed of girls born in 2008. Yasutake also boasted having been certified with a U.S. National “C” license granted by U.S. Soccer. Yasutake posted $40,000 bond December 11, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Arraignment is scheduled December 23 in Dept. 30 of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Police arrested a man and woman November 14, after the duo were tracked to Los Angeles during an investigation into a violent robbery. The duo allegedly used a pickup truck to intentionally back out of a driveway and into a moving vehicle in the 800 block of Arcadia Avenue, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Thursday. After the collision, two masked suspects exited the truck and robbed the passenger of the car at gunpoint. The passenger was also punched several times in the head, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Arcadia detectives and plainclothes officers were conducting follow up work in Los Angeles when the suspect truck was located at Nordhoff Street and Mason Avenue. Los Angeles Police officers were called and assisted by following the truck to the 19900 block of Labrador Street. A man and woman fled the truck. The woman was quickly caught by Arcadia Police officers. During a perimeter search, an LAPD K9 located the hiding suspect in the 20000 block of Labrador. Cheyanne Craig, 29, and Grayson Horne, 24, were taken into custody. Evidence from the robbery was reportedly located in the suspect truck. Horne and Craig were booked on suspicion of robbery and resisting arrest, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Craig was issued a citation and released November 15. CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - One suspect, likely part of a group of organized distraction burglars, was arrested and accused of grand theft at Santa Anita Park September 28. Three incidents were reported at the racetrack, 285 W. Huntington Dr. In two of the incidents, the suspects successfully stole two high-end watches, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Officers were called to Santa Anita Park around 5:30 p.m. to investigate. In one incident, a victim was walking amongst a group of patrons. The victim then became surrounded by a group of unknown people who limited the victim’s movement to create confusion. The victim’s watch was then stolen, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The suspects dispersed, then the victim reported the incident to Santa Anita Park security upon realizing the watch was stolen. In the second incident, the victim was maneuvering through a group of patrons when at some point the victim’s watch was removed. The theft was discovered hours later and reported to security, according to the Arcadia Police Department. In the third incident, the victim was approached by three suspects, who attempted to embrace their victim. During this encounter, one of the suspects attempted to remove the victim’s watch from their wrist, but the victim discovered the act and confronted the trio who left the area. This incident was also reported to security, and to the Arcadia Police Department. A search yielded the arrest of Los Angeles resident Camilo Nino-Hernandez, 24. He was booked on suspicion of grand theft and forging an official seal. He allegedly possessed a fraudulent Social Security card, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Arcadia Police policy prevents the release of victim information, but Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler was apparently one of the victims targeted by these organized criminals, according to a story broken by ABC7 News. CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Dodgers star pitcher Walker Buehler and his wife were reportedly mobbed recently and had his watch stolen, according to ABC7 Eyewitness News. It is not yet clear when the incident occurred, but Buehler and his wife, McKenzie Marcinek, were walking at Santa Anita Park, 285 W. Huntington Dr., when they were surrounded by a mob of people. At some point, someone unbuttoned Buehler‘s shirt sleeve and stole the expensive watch he was wearing, according to ABC7. The Arcadia Police Department acknowledged the incident, but has yet to provide an official statement on the investigation into this robbery. This incident comes on the heels of a pivotal a game three of the National League Division Series, which begins in San Diego Tuesday night. CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - The driver of a stolen white Toyota Camry was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after initially leading South Pasadena Police officers on a pursuit. South Pasadena Police officers located the stolen Camry after receiving a Flock camera notification just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 28. The driver allegedly refused to stop and recklessly evaded officers who called off the pursuit due to the unsafe conditions, according to Sgt. Spencer Louie of the South Pasadena Police Department. The suspect reportedly abandoned the stolen Camry in Arcadia, Louie told SGV CityWatch. Arcadia Police assisted with a search. A perimeter search for the suspect unfolded near Fairview Avenue and Hungate Lane. Details of where exactly the suspect was found and the suspect’s booking information were not readily available. CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A multi-city raid orchestrated by Arcadia Police detectives netted 19 arrests and a seizure of drugs and cash August 21. The raids, conducted at several locations within Arcadia and one in Rosemead, yielded arrests for various charges, including prostitution, pimping, possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics for sales. Drugs, including ecstasy, marijuana, cocaine, $250,000 in cash and other items related to prostitution were confiscated, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The investigation into allegations of prostitution and brothels operating in the city began in March of 2024. Detectives identified several residences: the 100 block of West Live Oak Ave, the 800 block of Arcadia Avenue and the 2700 block of Holly Avenue. The Arcadia Police Department SWAT team was assisted by SWAT teams from nearby cities. CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Foliage wasn’t the only thing found nestled in a resident’s yard July 6. A resident found a hidden camera and related equipment hidden in some bushes in their yard in the 1600 block of Oakwood Avenue. The camera appeared to be positioned to capture other homes in the neighborhood, according to the Arcadia Police Department. “Officers examined the camera and found no internal storage; however, a mobile device hotspot was connected to the camera. Based on this discovery, the camera was sending recordings to a cloud-based application,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Several customers are thinking “oh thank heaven” after narrowly avoiding major injuries when a car made a dramatic entrance into a 7-Eleven June 28. An alleged drunk driver crashed a white Prius through the front entrance of the 7-Eleven, 1003 S. Baldwin Ave., around 10:30 p.m. Friday and through the convenience store. Four customers inside the store were treated for injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Multiple bags of chips and some cases of Pacifico did not survive. The uninjured driver, a 53-year-old Arcadia resident, was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence. His name was not publicly released. Written by AARON CASTREJON
CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Four people were arrested June 9, after allegedly attempting to establish residency at someone else’s home June 9. The four suspects were confronted by the homeowner who called police to report a possible burglary in progress in the 400 block of Walnut Avenue. During a physical altercation, the homeowner fired a handgun into the air in fear of his life. One suspect was arrested outside the home, the others fled in a vehicle, but were found and arrested, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Officers were called to the home around 11:45 p.m. The homeowner called police and said he could see people inside of the home. He confronted them as they exited, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Those involved in the physical fight were treated for minor injuries, according to the Arcadia Police Department. “Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the suspects had taken over the residence, and were attempting to establish residency. All four suspects were arrested and charged with residential burglary,” according to the Arcadia Police Department in a written statement. Arrested were Uried Benitez, a 32-year-old man from Los Angeles; Stephanie Burwell, a 35-year-old woman from Baldwin Park; Phyllis Cheong, a 29-year-old woman from Los Angeles and Marisa Williams, a 31-year-old woman from Long Beach. Four masked suspects attempted to enter a closed, locked business where several people were still inside in the 100 block of East Santa Clara Street. One suspect used a weapon to shoot the glass and enter the business. One of the rounds fired into the business struck the victim in the leg, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The robbery was reported around 10:40 p.m. Friday, April 26. Once inside, the suspects robbed the victims and then escaped in a vehicle described as a newer model white or silver four-door sedan, possibly a Chrysler, according to the Arcadia Police Department.
