Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - A man was found dead from a gunshot wound Friday morning after reportedly calling and telling Sheriff’s deputies he would kill himself, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said. Deputies were called around 10:30 a.m. August 16 to the 9600 block of Leroy Street by a man who said he would shoot himself. Deputies found the man on the sidewalk. He died at the scene, according to Lt. Vienna of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to his head, Vienna said. Coroner Investigator Nani Cholakians identified the man as William Carl Irish, 79, a resident of Arcadia. The coroner has yet to list an official cause of death. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Homicide detectives are looking for what they call a stolen vehicle taken from a woman believed to have been murdered. The victim, only described as a 76-year-old Asian woman, was found not breathing in the rear yard of her home in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue just before 7 a..m. April 9. The woman was declared dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Chyong Jen Tsai of Arcadia, according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The woman’s death was initially deemed suspicious, but detectives have not said how she died. A cause of death will be revealed by the county coroner.
The woman’s white 2005 Lexus RX 300 is missing from the location, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau. The Lexus sports license plate number 5LOG473. No suspect description or motive is known at this time. Anyone with information on the stolen vehicle’s whereabouts or on the death is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Deputies are looking for the suspect accused of taking an iPhone from his victim at the Gold Line Station Wednesday morning. A red iPhone XR was taken by force at the Arcadia Gold Line Station, 201 N. 1st Ave., just before 9 a.m. February 27. The suspect fled on foot east on East Santa Clara Street and out of view, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. The suspect is a Black man in his 20s and stands 6 feet 2 inches tall. He wore black clothing and red shoes. The fight occurred with other transients on a bike trail at Peck Road Park, 5401 Peck Rd. December 17. El Monte Police informed Sheriff’s deputies of the fight just before 4 p.m., according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victims refuse to give information on the others involved in the tussle. “They’re not giving any information on the suspects. They know them from the area,” Schrader said. “There’s an ongoing dispute among these individuals.” It was unclear to deputies what, if any, weapons were used in the fight, which was originally dispatched as a possible stabbing. Sergio Regalado, 25, was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence with prior convictions and felony evading officers, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Pasadena Police attempted to stop Regalado around 9:13 p.m. after a Good Samaritan followed him from the 110 freeway to Pasadena city streets. Regalado sped away from officers. Due to his erratic driving, a helicopter tracked his movements, Pasadena Police said. Sheriff’s deputies began pursuing Regalado as he entered their jurisdiction. Deputies followed Regalado from Old Ranch and Huntington Drive as he nearly hit pedestrians, ran red lights and sped along city streets. The pursuit went into San Gabriel where Regalado almost got caught in a cul-de-sac, but he wormed his way past deputies to keep the pursuit alive. Regalado crashed into two civilian vehicles at Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia. One of the civilian vehicles flipped and came to rest on its side. Both Regalado and a driver in one of the other vehicles were both briefly hospitalized. Police responding to a call of gunfire in the 800 block of South Sunset Boulevard around 8:20 a.m. found a husband and wife down in an alleyway, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The wife was pronounced dead at the scene. The husband was taken to an area hospital and later died, detectives said. The husband and wife were still married, but living separately, detectives learned. The husband is believed to have shot his wife before turning the gun on himself, detectives said. The weapon was recovered. The shooting occurred in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Okoboji Drive. Sunset Boulevard is closed to all traffic for the next several hours, Arcadia Police said in a written statement. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau are en route to handle the investigation. Police Responded to the area on reports of gunfire after 8 a.m. An emptied gun was found during the search and two people were found wounded, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. An Arcadia Police supervisor was unable to answer calls. An Arcadia Police dispatcher referred all media inquiries to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, but Homicide detectives have not received notification of the shooting.
