Arcadia officers were called to the hospital, 300 W. Huntington Dr., just before 9 a.m. April 24. The victim had apparently been shot in the back. The victim was listed in stable condition Sunday evening at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, according to Sgt. Ryan Mulhall of the Arcadia Police Department. It was not known where the shooting actually occurred. Officers were apparently given a vague description of the vehicle that dropped off the victim who is apparently not cooperating with the investigation. Lian Hui Yang was found standing in a driveway in the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard after police responded to a gunfire call around 10:06 p.m. February 17. A 17-year-old male was found wounded in one of his feet, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Yang and his 19-year-old neighbor allegedly began feuding earlier Thursday, but the fight was no reported to police. The feud continued that night. During the nighttime fight, the neighbor was helped by two friends: a 17-year-old and 19-year-old; the latter was not injured. The neighbor was allegedly punched in the head and complained of pain, according to the Arcadia Police Department. After being booked, Yang was transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pasadena Superior Court February 22. Michael Jonathan Price, 31, fled into the home in the 400 block of East Camino Real Avenue when officers attempted to speak with him during a battery investigation. Officers evacuated nearby residents as a precaution. Officers responded to the home at 9:41 a.m. Price surrendered at 2:51 p.m. and residents were allowed back into their homes. The 71-year-old mother was treated for injuries considered not life-threatening. Price was booked on suspicion of elder abuse and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail. An anonymous caller reported seeing a blue Volvo flee the area after two men bro into the mailboxes in the area of South First Avenue and Diamond Street around 1:29 p.m. October 31. The three suspects were detained after officers found the blue Volvo parked in a nearby alley, according to the Arcadia Police Department. After a search of the vehicle, officers located the stolen items and burglary tools. All three suspects were arrested and booked on suspicion of mail theft and possession of burglary tools, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Man Hides in Arcadia Residence After Allegedly Assaulting Mother, Throwing Knives at Police10/4/2021 Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA – Arcadia Police SWAT officers were able to get a man to surrender after allegedly throwing knives and a hatchet at them Sunday evening.
Police attempted to speak with the suspect who reportedly battered his mother. Officers were called to the residence and after officers attempted to speak with the suspect, he attacked them, according to Lt. Brett Bourgeous of the Arcadia Police Department. The incident occurred in the 400 block of East Live Oak Avenue around 6:39 p.m. “When officers attempted contact with the son at the front door of the apartment, he attacked them by throwing several knives and a hatchet at the officers,” Bourgeous said in a written statement. Officers were able to block the knife attacks and safely evacuated residents in neighboring apartment units. The suspect challenged officers to shoot him, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. The Arcadia Police Special Weapons and Tactics team was mobilized and negotiated with the suspect to surrender, which he ultimately did. The extent of the mother’s injuries is unclear. The unidentified suspect was booked on suspicion of felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and battery. He is being held in the Arcadia Police jail in lieu of $70,000 bail. The collision occurred near First Avenue and Santa Clara Street around 10:49 p.m. September 5. Officers responded to the scene, located the pedestrian and called for medical help. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The pedestrian’s current condition is not immediately known. at 11:12 p.m., the Metropolitan Transportation Authority summoned shuttles for passengers as train service stopped between the Sierra Madre Villa Station and Monrovia Station. At 7:22 a.m. Monday, Metro authorities announced train service resumed. ARCADIA - Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating what led to the shooting deaths of a man and woman Sunday morning. The deaths were discovered in the 600 block of Huntington Drive just after 11 a.m. September 5. Investigators have not yet shared if this is possibly a murder-suicide or some other crime. The crash occurred around 10:50 p.m. at Las Tunas Drive and Baldwin Avenue. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena with serious injuries, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The victim was only described as a man in his 60s. The coroner is awaiting notification of next of kin, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. A suspected drunk driver was eastbound on Las Tunas Drive when the driver lost control while traveling at high speed, crossed the raised median and slammed into the other vehicle head-on, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The suspected DUI driver appeared uninjured. The driver was also taken to Huntington Memorial for evaluation, according to the Arcadia Police Department. It is not yet publicly known if the suspect DUI driver has been arrested. A witness told police of a burglary at Papa John’s Pizza, 1312 S. Baldwin Ave., around 5:11 a.m. May 14. The suspects fled in a white van east on Naomi Avenue, but officers caught up to them, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The three unidentified suspects were arrested after officers concluded they were involved in the burglary, Arcadia Police said. Two of the three suspects also had arrest warrants from other cities. They were booked on suspicion of burglary and for weapons crimes, Arcadia Police said. Police were called to the 500 block of Fairview Avenue just before 5 a.m. to investigate a reported catalytic converter theft that just occurred. Officers found a suspicious vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, according to the Arcadia Police Department. “During their investigation, the officers located two catalytic converters, several saws, and a vehicle jack,” the Arcadia Police Department said in a written statement. Both suspects who were unidentified were subsequently arrested. |
