Police have entered the rear yard of a home and discovered a conscious man in his 20s shot in the back and his left leg. Several people remaining in the rear yard are being cleared out, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. The shooting was reported around 8:50 p.m. Two of several vehicles seen fleeing the neighborhood at high speed were stopped. One SUV had a spent shell casing inside. The driver is detained, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. Arcadia Police are being assisted by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - A man was found dead from a gunshot wound Friday morning after reportedly calling and telling Sheriff’s deputies he would kill himself, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said. Deputies were called around 10:30 a.m. August 16 to the 9600 block of Leroy Street by a man who said he would shoot himself. Deputies found the man on the sidewalk. He died at the scene, according to Lt. Vienna of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to his head, Vienna said. Coroner Investigator Nani Cholakians identified the man as William Carl Irish, 79, a resident of Arcadia. The coroner has yet to list an official cause of death. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - A male received a mysterious gunshot wound to the knee and checked himself into a San Gabriel hospital Independence Day. Arcadia officers were called to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, 438 West Las Tunas Dr., around 9:06 p.m. July 4. The victim did not recall being shot, according to the Arcadia Police Department.
“He remembered being behind Aldi, 1403 South Baldwin Avenue, when he felt dizzy and asked a friend to transport him to the hospital,” Arcadia Police said in a written statement. The investigation is ongoing. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - The suspects involved in a seemingly-random shooting outside a bar Saturday morning are still outstanding. There is no motive yet for the shooting outside The Station, 1218 S. Baldwin Ave., that occurred around 12:26 a.m. June 29. At least one suspect fired five to six shots, which hit several vehicles. One round also struck the bar itself near a patio area, according to Lt. Brian Ortiz of the Arcadia Police Department. No one was injured, Ortiz said. The suspects, described as two Asian males and two females, were inside the bar prior to the gunfire. The suspects fled in a white Lexus SUV south through the parking lot, Ortiz said. Initial witness statements indicate that there was no obvious disagreement or argument involving the suspects prior to the shooting, Ortiz said.
About 30 patrons were inside the bar when gunfire erupted. The front doors were locked and patrons were evacuated through a rear door after officers arrived. Several off-duty El Monte Police officers were inside the bar at the time of the shooting. At least one was armed, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. Police responding to a call of gunfire in the 800 block of South Sunset Boulevard around 8:20 a.m. found a husband and wife down in an alleyway, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The wife was pronounced dead at the scene. The husband was taken to an area hospital and later died, detectives said. The husband and wife were still married, but living separately, detectives learned. The husband is believed to have shot his wife before turning the gun on himself, detectives said. The weapon was recovered.
