Arcadia officers were called to the hospital, 300 W. Huntington Dr., just before 9 a.m. April 24. The victim had apparently been shot in the back. The victim was listed in stable condition Sunday evening at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, according to Sgt. Ryan Mulhall of the Arcadia Police Department. It was not known where the shooting actually occurred. Officers were apparently given a vague description of the vehicle that dropped off the victim who is apparently not cooperating with the investigation. Lian Hui Yang was found standing in a driveway in the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard after police responded to a gunfire call around 10:06 p.m. February 17. A 17-year-old male was found wounded in one of his feet, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Yang and his 19-year-old neighbor allegedly began feuding earlier Thursday, but the fight was no reported to police. The feud continued that night. During the nighttime fight, the neighbor was helped by two friends: a 17-year-old and 19-year-old; the latter was not injured. The neighbor was allegedly punched in the head and complained of pain, according to the Arcadia Police Department. After being booked, Yang was transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pasadena Superior Court February 22. The HOV, No. 1 and 2 lanes of traffic remain closed during cleanup and an investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP responded to a report of a possible silver Saturn blacked out and stalled in the HOV lane. Sometime before 4:53 a.m., a collision occurred, according to CHP traffic logs. At 5:09 a.m. all lanes were temporarily closed. By 5:12 a.m., the No. 4 lane and the right shoulder were opened to traffic. Michael Jonathan Price, 31, fled into the home in the 400 block of East Camino Real Avenue when officers attempted to speak with him during a battery investigation. Officers evacuated nearby residents as a precaution. Officers responded to the home at 9:41 a.m. Price surrendered at 2:51 p.m. and residents were allowed back into their homes. The 71-year-old mother was treated for injuries considered not life-threatening. Price was booked on suspicion of elder abuse and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail. An anonymous caller reported seeing a blue Volvo flee the area after two men bro into the mailboxes in the area of South First Avenue and Diamond Street around 1:29 p.m. October 31. The three suspects were detained after officers found the blue Volvo parked in a nearby alley, according to the Arcadia Police Department. After a search of the vehicle, officers located the stolen items and burglary tools. All three suspects were arrested and booked on suspicion of mail theft and possession of burglary tools, according to the Arcadia Police Department. Man Hides in Arcadia Residence After Allegedly Assaulting Mother, Throwing Knives at Police10/4/2021 Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ARCADIA – Arcadia Police SWAT officers were able to get a man to surrender after allegedly throwing knives and a hatchet at them Sunday evening.
Police attempted to speak with the suspect who reportedly battered his mother. Officers were called to the residence and after officers attempted to speak with the suspect, he attacked them, according to Lt. Brett Bourgeous of the Arcadia Police Department. The incident occurred in the 400 block of East Live Oak Avenue around 6:39 p.m. “When officers attempted contact with the son at the front door of the apartment, he attacked them by throwing several knives and a hatchet at the officers,” Bourgeous said in a written statement. Officers were able to block the knife attacks and safely evacuated residents in neighboring apartment units. The suspect challenged officers to shoot him, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. The Arcadia Police Special Weapons and Tactics team was mobilized and negotiated with the suspect to surrender, which he ultimately did. The extent of the mother’s injuries is unclear. The unidentified suspect was booked on suspicion of felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and battery. He is being held in the Arcadia Police jail in lieu of $70,000 bail. Bertha Hernandez, 35, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. She died from a gunshot wound to the head. Hernandez was driving a black Mercedes Benz east on the 210 freeway when the shooting occurred near Baldwin Avenue. CHP officers were called to a collision and found the car had crashed into a sound wall, according to the California Highway Patrol. Hernandez was declared dead at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. The events leading up to the shooting are either unknown, or have yet to be publicly shared. The collision occurred near First Avenue and Santa Clara Street around 10:49 p.m. September 5. Officers responded to the scene, located the pedestrian and called for medical help. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, according to the Arcadia Police Department. The pedestrian’s current condition is not immediately known. at 11:12 p.m., the Metropolitan Transportation Authority summoned shuttles for passengers as train service stopped between the Sierra Madre Villa Station and Monrovia Station. At 7:22 a.m. Monday, Metro authorities announced train service resumed. ARCADIA - Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating what led to the shooting deaths of a man and woman Sunday morning. The deaths were discovered in the 600 block of Huntington Drive just after 11 a.m. September 5. Investigators have not yet shared if this is possibly a murder-suicide or some other crime. CHP responded to the scene at 9:05 a.m. September 4, according to Officer Peter Nicholson of the California Highway Patrol. Nicholson has preliminary information on a possible suspect vehicle involved but is waiting from a investigators on scene to develop better information before publicly sharing a description of the vehicle involved. All eastbound traffic is being diverted off at Michillinda Avenue. Nicholson was unaware of other injuries involved in the crash. Whether the victim died from the crash or from possibly being shot is not immediately known. |
