Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - Both drivers in a head-on crash that killed a 6-year-old boy inside one of the vehicles may have been drunk driving, police said. Julian George, the boy killed in the crash, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. A northbound vehicle on White Avenue somehow crossed over the median and crashed head-on into a southbound vehicle near McKinley around 4:24 p.m., Pomona Police said. George was seated in the rear of one of the SUVs. Firefighters arrived and declared the boy dead at the scene.
A Pomona officer witnessed the crash. Peter George, the driver of one of the vehicles and father of Julian, is still listed in critical condition. A woman identifying herself as Cathy George started a gofundme campaign to help with medical and funeral costs. She denies that Peter George was intoxicated behind the wheel. “We've been seeing articles changing their tiles stating that both drivers were under the influence in the accident. This is an assumption, we do not believe that Peter had any alcohol in his system at the time of this accident,” Cathy said, adding that blood alcohol tests will confirm who was intoxicated. The condition of the other driver has not been disclosed.
