POMONA - A man in his 40s was left for dead on a Pomona Street January 23 and investigators are still searching for the driver who apparently struck him.

The traffic collision occurred on Temple Avenue and Foley Way, Tuesday. The men’s body was discovered around 6:21 p.m. The man was transported to a hospital where he later died, according to the Pomona Police Department.

“Evidence at the scene suggests the pedestrian was attempting to cross Temple Ave when he was struck by a passing vehicle,” according to the Pomona Police Department in a written statement.

POMONA - A 20-year-old woman was taken into custody, accused of killing a woman and fleeing the scene early New Year’s Day.

Isabella Pilar Ortega was arrested January 2. She is being held in lieu of $80,000 ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pomona Superior Court January 4.

Khailyn Garcia Sanchez, 23, was struck in the area of Garey Avenue and Center Street January 1. First responders were called around 1:37 a.m., according to the Pomona Police Department.

Sanchez was hospitalized and later died. She leaves behind a baby and her boyfriend.

POMONA - One driver died, another escaped on foot after a collision late Friday night.

The traffic collision occurred at Towne Avenue and Philadelphia Street around 11:13 p.m. Friday, November 17. First responders located an unresponsive driver. The driver was treated at the scene by Los Angeles County firefighters and taken to a hospital where he later died, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The other driver fled the scene on foot, and was not located, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The Pomona Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating. Anyone who can help identify the hit and run driver is urged to call the Pomona Police Traffic Services Bureau at 909-802-7721.

POMONA - Detectives are searching for the driver responsible for striking and killing a pedestrian on Reservoir Street late Wednesday night.

First responders were sent to Reservoir Street and Olive Street at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 19. A woman in her 30s was found down on Reservoir Street and severely injured. Firefighter paramedics attempted to save her, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department.

It is unclear if detectives have determined the make and model of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.

UPDATE, 1:56 p.m.: The suspect has been identified as Erik Elias Perez, an 18 year-old resident of Pomona. He has been booked on suspicion of Vehicular Manslaughter, Grand Theft Auto and Hit and Run resulting in death.

POMONA - The suspect wanted in a horrific collision that killed two adults and injured another sought treatment at a Montclair hospital.

The suspect’s name is not yet publicly available, pending medical clearance and booking, according to Aly Mejia, spokeswoman for the Pomona Police Department.

Pomona police officers arrived to the Montclair hospital once the department was notified. The department’s traffic unit is investigating, Mejia told SGV CityWatch.

The crash between an SUV and a sedan occurred on Gary Avenue between East Bonita Avenue and Harrison Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, May 28. A man and woman died in the overturn SUV. A third woman, said to be in her 50s or 60s, was extricated and taken to a hospital and was last listed in critical condition.

POMONA - A man and woman died at the scene of a hit-and-run crash on Garey Avenue that ripped two vehicles apart, spewing debris all over the road.

A 50-60-year-old woman who survived the crash was critically injured. First responders were sent to Garey Avenue between Harrison Avenue and East Bonita Avenue around 8:45 p.m. May 28, according to the Pomona Police Department.

An SUV carrying the three victims overturned, trapping them all. A sedan involved in the crash ended up hitting a tree.

A resident told Fox 11 that a man fled with a duffle bag or backpack from the crashed sedan and is believed to have caused the fatal crash. The resident followed the man to an apartment complex on Garey Avenue, but lost sight of him after the man exited the apartment complex.

Investigators have yet to provide a suspect description and it is unclear if a description was provided by any witnesses.

POMONA - A 71-year-old bicyclist was struck by a driver and left for dead on a Pomona Street Wednesday morning.

First responders were sent to Mission Boulevard and East End Avenue March 22, around 5:37 a.m. and found the bicyclist severely wounded. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics treated the man who later died at the scene.

It is believed the bicycle list was attempting to cross East End Avenue when he was hit, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The bicyclist was J. Guadalupe Perez-Nunez, 71.

POMONA - A woman was hospitalized Monday night after likely being struck by a vehicle.

The severely-injured woman was found down on traffic lanes at Indian Hill Boulevard at Lincoln Avenue around 11:22 p.m. January 16.

“Evidence at the scene suggests the pedestrian was attempting to cross Indian Hill Blvd. when she was struck by a passing vehicle,l according to the Pomona Police Department.

The driver fled the scene.

It is not publicly clear if investigators have a vehicle or suspect description.

POMONA – A man on a bicycle was wounded after being struck by an unknown vehicle on northbound Towne Avenue late Tuesday night.

The bicyclist was hospitalized and remains in stable condition. Officers responded to Towne Avenue near Bangor Street around 10:50 p.m. September 27, according to Lt. Brian Hagerty of the Pomona Police Department.

There was no evidence at the scene to help officers identify the make and model of the vehicle that fled the scene, Hagerty told SGV CityWatch.

The Pomona Police Traffic Bureau is investigating and is looking for any surveillance video that can help identify the driver and vehicle.
