POMONA - The suspect wanted in a horrific collision that killed two adults and injured another sought treatment at a Montclair hospital. The suspect’s name is not yet publicly available, pending medical clearance and booking, according to Aly Mejia, spokeswoman for the Pomona Police Department. Pomona police officers arrived to the Montclair hospital once the department was notified. The department’s traffic unit is investigating, Mejia told SGV CityWatch. The crash between an SUV and a sedan occurred on Gary Avenue between East Bonita Avenue and Harrison Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, May 28. A man and woman died in the overturn SUV. A third woman, said to be in her 50s or 60s, was extricated and taken to a hospital and was last listed in critical condition. Investigators preliminarily believe he killed himself.
PREVIOUS: Police Searching for Montclair Man After Woman is Murdered in Pomona July 12 POMONA – A woman died on the front porch of a home July 12, the victim of an apparent shooting and the suspect, believed to be her boyfriend, is still at-large. Officers responded to a report of a shooting victim outside a home in the 1800 block of San Bernardino Avenue just after 10 p.m. Officers found the victim and attempted to save her, but she died at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. One other person, only described as a female, was found wounded by gunfire. She suffered injuries described as minor. Investigators identified the suspect, Darnel Dwight Haley, a 62-year-old Montclair resident. A recent break-up is believed to be the motive behind the killing. Haley is known to drive a 2009 tan Kia Spectra, license plate number 8JNH311. He is still considered armed and dangerous. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - A Chino man lost control of the semi he allegedly stole and crashed into parked vehicles, a power pole, a cinder block wall and a house while fleeing Pomona officers Saturday.
The semi’s owner tracked down the stolen truck after it was taken from a Montclair tire shop. He called Pomona Police around 12:19 p.m. after finding it still being driven, according to the Pomona Police Department. Officers attempted to stop the suspect in the area of Reservoir Street and Philadelphia Street, but the driver refused to yield and fled eastbound on Philadelphia, Pomona Police said. The driver crashed the semi near Pipeline Avenue and Philadelphia Street in Chino. He was immediately taken into custody. Matthew Paul Gonzalez, a 27-year-old Chino resident, was medically cleared at a local hospital and booked into the Pomona jail on suspicion of grand theft auto. Several homes were left without power and the unoccupied home struck by the semi sustained major structural damage, Pomona Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - A Montclair man is facing a charge of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another man during what police described as a dispute over an acquaintance. Montclair man Javier Perez, 33, is accused of stabbing a 26-year-old Ontario man just before 3 a.m. Halloween night inside a home in the 900 block of East 6th Street. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso. He received life-saving surgery and is recovering, according to the Pomona Police Department.
Detectives with the Pomona Police Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, developed leads and identified Perez as a suspect November 4, Pomona Police said. Perez is known to the victim, Pomona Police said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed the charge against Perez November 6. |
