It is unclear what led to the exchange of gunfire near Reservoir Street and the westbound 60 Freeway on ramp December 3. First responders were sent to the scene around 8:30 p.m. The woman was hospitalized in stable condition, according to the California Highway Patrol. CityWatch Editor POMONA - A male teen died from gunfire at a Pomona apartment complex, a police lieutenant said Sunday. The shooting took place in the 1300 block of East Pasadena Street just before 5:30 p.m. November 23. “We’re trying to figure out whether it’s intentional or accidental,” according to Lt. Miller of the Pomona Police Department. “We’re talking to people in the home, but not looking for any other suspects outside the home.” Detectives remained on scene to interview witnesses, including family members who were inside the residence when the shooting occurred. CityWatch Editor POMONA - A juvenile was arrested August 23, accused of using a pellet gun to shoot a motorist’s face. The victim sustained injuries considered not life-threatening. The motorist called the California Highway Patrol after being shot on the east 60 freeway near Phillips Ranch Road in Pomona around 1:47 p.m. The motorist followed the white Dodge SUV the suspect was in, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officers from the Baldwin Park and Rancho Cucamonga offices, aided by Chino Police, stopped the SUV on Riverside Drive west of Mountain Avenue in Chino. CityWatch Editor POMONA - It’s usually advisable to not leave your wallet and identification behind after fleeing the scene of the crime, but one suspect didn’t get the memo May 16. Two men began arguing over a dog and the shouting match escalated into one of the men getting struck in the head with a tire iron, according to the Pomona Police Department. The suspect dropped his wallet and fled. Police identified him as 29-year-old Christian Ayala of Pomona. Ayala was spotted by Pomona Police Major Crimes Units August 8 driving in the area of Ninth Street and Buena Vista Avenue and was arrested. CityWatch Editor POMONA - The driver of a black Kia Sol reportedly fired a gun at another driver, causing some vehicle damage March 5. The shooting occurred in southbound lanes of the 57 freeway north of Temple Avenue around 4:09 p.m. The driver of a 2015 Toyota Tundra was driving southbound in the No. 3 lane and saw in his rear view mirror a black Kia Sol being driven erratically. When the driver of the Tundra changed lanes in front of the Kia’s driver, the latter became visibly agitated, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Kia’s driver drove up to the left side of the Tundra. “As the victim continued southbound … north of the Temple Avenue offramp, he heard a loud noise. Concerned, he exited the freeway at Sunset Crossing to inspect his vehicle and discovered a bullet hole near the rear tire on the driver’s side,” according to the CHP in a written statement. The Tundra’s driver returned to the area of the shooting and awaited the arrival of CHP officers. He could only describe the driver as a Latino male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black baseball cap. Drivers who were on the freeway at the time of the shooting are urged to review any camera video their vehicle may have. CityWatch Editor POMONA - A man allegedly under the influence reportedly had to be subdued with a stun gun when he allegedly tried to assault officers with a tree branch after climbing to the roof of a 7-Eleven, September 12. The incident unfolded at the 7-Eleven, 1546 W. Mission Blvd. The man was reportedly seen walking on the roof of the convenience store. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation for three hours, according to the Pomona Police Department. At one point, the man jumped from the roof of the 7-Eleven and grabbed a large tree branch. Eventually, the man came down, but was allegedly combative with officers and tried to beat them with a tree branch, according to the Pomona Police Department. The man, Arturo Torres, a 53-year-old San Gabriel resident, was eventually subdued with a stun gun and taken into custody. He was booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting a peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce great bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce great bodily injury on a peace officer, and disturbing the peace. Torres is being held in lieu of $65,000 bail at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic. CityWatch Editor POMONA - A man accused of firing off a handgun at a mobile home park Wednesday night was shot and wounded by Pomona officers after allegedly firing at them. Officers responded to a report of a man firing a weapon at the Westland Estates Mobile Home Park, 1401 W. Ninth St., around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5. Officers encountered an armed suspect on the street and reportedly made multiple commands for him to drop the weapon. He allegedly did not comply. The suspect reportedly fired at officers who then shot and wounded him. He was transported to a hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A weapon was reportedly recovered at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is investigating the shooting.  Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - The victim of a December 27 stabbing was left severely injured and disfigured, and the suspect remains out of custody, according to the Pomona Police Department.
The stabbing occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Mission Boulevard. Investigators have yet to reveal the circumstances behind the stabbing, but the suspect was caught on security camera inside of a local liquor store prior to the stabbing. The officer was wounded in the area of Angela Street and Chanselor Street. The shooting likely occurred around 7:20 p.m. A preliminary California Highway Patrol officer safety broadcast indicated one suspect may be detained and possibly three others are being sought. Police responding to a gunfire call in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Caswell Street around 11 p.m. October 1 found the teen suffering a gunshot wound, according to the Pomona Police Department.
