Officers responding to a gunfire call in the 2000 block of South San Antonio Avenue February 3 found the wounded man. Police and firefighters attempted to save the man, but he died at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. The incident occurred around 8:31 a.m. The victim was only described as a 45-year-old Pomona resident. Police did not reveal if a suspect description exists. A motive is not yet known. The vehicle fire was reported in the 1400 block of South Park Avenue around 4 a.m. Officers were also responding to a report of gunfire. After coroner investigators removed the victim, the body displayed evidence of being shot, according to the Pomona Police Department. The victim still has yet to be identified, according to Lt. David Smith of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Officers also found evidence indicating gunfire occurred near the vehicle.
“Investigators believe the individuals who set fire to the vehicle may have also sustained burns over their bodies,” Pomona Police said. The man died in the area of Grand Avenue and Dudley Street July 25. Officers initially responded to a reported gunshot victim and found a male subject down, according to Lt. Steve Congalton of the Pomona Police Department.
Firefighters were dispatched at 7:32 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Martn Rangel. The scene is still being worked by officers. Coroner investigators determined the dead woman suffered injuries consistent with being physically assaulted and stabbed, Pomona Police said. Investigators identified the victim was identified as 58-year-old Pomona resident Ronny Wall.

NBC4 and ABC7 are reporting the boy, possibly 15 years old, was shot near his mother while he rode his scooter in the 1300 block of West Third Street. The boy was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he later died. The incident was reported just after 7 p.m. An unknown suspect began firing from a vehicle that stopped along the street.
Firefighters were dispatched at 7:11 p.m. They arrived on scene at 7:20 p.m. and transported the victim, according to Cpt. Ron Haralson of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “After experiencing such a decline in violence over the last several months, this is disheartening,” said Pomona Police Chief Michael Olivieri in a social media post. “Trust that we will devote a high level of resources to identify and arrest the suspect(s) responsible. Officers arrived to an apartment complex in the 200 block of West Grove Avenue around 3:21 a.m. January 25 on a report of screams heard within the complex. Officers found a trail of blood leading to a unit, Pomona Police said. Officers discovered a 65-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics were called and pronounced the man dead at the scene, Pomona Police said.

Gregory Jolley, 51, a Pomona resident, is accused of fatally stabbing 55-year-old Ontario man James Estrella as he slept in his bed, according to the Pomona Police Department. The stabbing was the result of a dispute. The two men had a quarrel earlier in the day December 10. Jolley allegedly returned to Estrella’s home in the 1200 block of West Grand Avenue and stabbed Estrella to death, Pomona Police said. Firefighters worked to save Estrella, but were unsuccessful. Pomona police detectives learned of the men’s’ quarrel and identified Jolley. On Tuesday, December 12, Pomona Police Major Crimes detectives were informed of Jolley’s arrest by Los Angeles Police Officers on unrelated charges, Pomona Police said. Major Crimes detectives will present the murder case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office while Jolley remains in LAPD custody pending an investigation by Los Angeles Police officers. |
