Jose Carlos Martinez-Perez, 31, was arrested after being found in Pomona March 10. He was booked on suspicion of murdering 38-year-old Vanessa Hedge, according to the Pomona Police Department. “Martinez-Perez is believed to be an acquaintance of the victim and the motive for the murder is believed to be a dispute over money,” Pomona Police said in a written statement. Martinez-Perez was found by the Pomona Police Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Pomona Police Special Investigations Unit and the U.S. Marshal Service. A murder charge was filed March 11 by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Dominique Rojas, 19, was charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office February 26. She is accused of shooting and wounding a 26-year-old West Covina woman, according to the Pomona Police Department. The shooting took place just before 9 a.m. at West Second Street and Curran Place. The victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. She was hospitalized and treated for her wounds, Pomona Police said. The motive remains unclear, Pomona Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged an alleged drunk driver in a horrific crash that left a vehicle embedded into a home and a woman dead. Carmelino Martinez Ordonez, 33, faces a charge of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He is accused of crashing into a home at Hamilton Boulevard and Colony Drive around 9:21 p.m. September 17, according to the Pomona Police Department. 59-year-old Yolanda Bozonier was inside the home and was fatally struck by a blue 2004 PT Cruiser allegedly driven by Ordonez.
Ordonez allegedly attempted to flee the crash on foot, but was detained by residents nearby. Ordonez was also driving without a license, according to the City of Pomona. “While the intersection meets all current safety standards, the City will assess the site for potential intersection enhancements,” the City of Pomona said in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA – The suspect accused of fighting with another man, causing severe head trauma that led to the victim’s death was tracked down and arrested February 26. Pomona man Quintial Brown, 26, was arrested in the 3100 block of West Temple Avenue. He was booked on suspicion of murder, robbery, criminal threats and witness intimidation. Brown allegedly fought with his victim, 60-year-old Jorge Luis Lopez, December 29, 2019 in the 600 block of East Holt Avenue. Brown was released due to insufficient evidence at the time and potential self defense issues, Pomona Police said.
The victim was hospitalized with severe head trauma and died January 13, Pomona Police said. Investigators discovered new evidence in the circumstances prior to the fight and the case against Brown was resubmitted with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which issued an arrest warrant, Pomona Police said. |
