Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - A 29-year-old Pomona woman is under arrest, suspected of murdering her father, police announced Sunday. Gardenia Guzman has been booked on suspicion of stabbing to death her father, 58-year-old Jaime Guzman, in his apartment January 25, 2019, according to the Pomona Police Department. Jaime Guzman died of a stab wound to the chest, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
Police arrived to the apartment unit at Mission Boulevard and Reservoir Street to an unknown disturbance and found Jaime Guzman unconscious on the floor and suffering from a stab wound. Despite being administered CPR, Guzman died at the scene, police said. Gardenia Guzman was later identified as a suspect. A warrant was issued for her arrest. May 4, Gardenia Guzman was recognized amongst a group of people detained for unspecified reasons. She was placed into custody, Pomona Police said. A motive for the killing is unknown, but police believe an argument ensued before the stabbing. A man and woman were both stabbed multiple times in their upper torsos in the 1400 block of East Mission Boulevard around 1:43 p.m. March 9. The victims are listed in serious condition, the Pomona Police Department said.
The suspect, only described as a man with multiple tattoos, fled on foot. Mission Boulevard from Reservoir Street to East End is blocked to traffic until further notice. Officers arrived to an apartment complex in the 200 block of West Grove Avenue around 3:21 a.m. January 25 on a report of screams heard within the complex. Officers found a trail of blood leading to a unit, Pomona Police said. Officers discovered a 65-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics were called and pronounced the man dead at the scene, Pomona Police said.
The motive is likely domestic, Pomona Police said. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to call the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085. Firefighters responded to a report of a man down and not breathing in the 3300 block of Pomona Boulevard around 6:50 a.m. January 4. Firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. There is no suspect or suspect vehicle description available. Gregory Jolley, 51, a Pomona resident, is accused of fatally stabbing 55-year-old Ontario man James Estrella as he slept in his bed, according to the Pomona Police Department. The stabbing was the result of a dispute. The two men had a quarrel earlier in the day December 10. Jolley allegedly returned to Estrella’s home in the 1200 block of West Grand Avenue and stabbed Estrella to death, Pomona Police said. Firefighters worked to save Estrella, but were unsuccessful. Pomona police detectives learned of the men’s’ quarrel and identified Jolley. On Tuesday, December 12, Pomona Police Major Crimes detectives were informed of Jolley’s arrest by Los Angeles Police Officers on unrelated charges, Pomona Police said. Major Crimes detectives will present the murder case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office while Jolley remains in LAPD custody pending an investigation by Los Angeles Police officers. Police responded to the 1100 block of East Phillips Boulevard just before 10:30 p.m. and discovered one man suffering multiple stab wounds. Minutes later, a second man was found in the 1500 block of South San Antonio Avenue with similar wounds, Pomona Police said. A motive for the stabbing is unknown.
