A 50-60-year-old woman who survived the crash was critically injured. First responders were sent to Garey Avenue between Harrison Avenue and East Bonita Avenue around 8:45 p.m. May 28, according to the Pomona Police Department. An SUV carrying the three victims overturned, trapping them all. A sedan involved in the crash ended up hitting a tree. A resident told Fox 11 that a man fled with a duffle bag or backpack from the crashed sedan and is believed to have caused the fatal crash. The resident followed the man to an apartment complex on Garey Avenue, but lost sight of him after the man exited the apartment complex. Investigators have yet to provide a suspect description and it is unclear if a description was provided by any witnesses. A patrol officer heard a crash nearby Holt Avenue and Clark Avenue around 11:49 p.m. April 26. The crash was located nearby on Holt Avenue east of Lorrane Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department. The woman died at the scene. The second driver was not injured. “Witness statements indicate that the vehicle related to the critically-injured driver … may have been racing another vehicle westbound on Holt just prior to the collision; this information has not been confirmed,” according to the Pomona Police Department in a written statement. The crash occurred at West Holt Avenue and North Dudley Street around 7:43 p.m. October 14. The 26-year-old driver, a female, was likely east on Holt Avenue and for unknown reasons veered across westbound lanes and crashed into a taco stand, according to the Pomona Police Department. The man killed in the crash died at the scene. Three people remain in critical condition. The 26-year-old suspect fled the scene, but returned more than one hour later and surrendered, according to the Pomona Police Department. A lieutenant at the Pomona Police Department declined to reveal the suspect’s name, despite that information being public until investigators are comfortable releasing the name. The suspect was booked at the Pomona jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit and run causing death or injury. Brian Hagerty of the Pomona Police Department. There was no evidence at the scene to help officers identify the make and model of the vehicle that fled the scene, Hagerty told SGV CityWatch.
