The owners of the dispensary reportedly operated without a permit and refused to comply with orders to stop, according to the Pomona Police Department. The dispensary was located at 1694 E. Ninth St. Officers with the Pomona Police Special Investigations Unit shut the business down.
“Although the use of marijuana is legal in the State of California, the sales of Marijuana are illegal within city limits,” Pomona Police said in a written statement. A loaded firearm was recovered at the scene. Police did not state if arrests were made. Arthur Ramirez, 27, was contacted by the Pomona Police Major Crimes Task Force in the 2200 block of Concord Avenue March 14. Due to his parolee status, his home in the 700 block of Weber Street was searched, Pomona Police said. A handgun, shotgun and related ammunition were found, Pomona Police said.
Ramirez was booked on suspicion of being e felon in possession of ammunition, being a felon in possession of a firearm and for a parole violation. Pomona Police shut down South Reservoir Street between East Seventh Street and East Ninth Street after the fatal crash just before 3:30 a.m. The motorcyclist was found down in lanes of traffic and he succumbed to his injuries, according to the Pomona Police Department. The motorcyclist collided with another vehicle. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Pomona Police said. The Pomona Police Major Accident Investigation Team will be working the scene for the next several hours. The bust was made just before 11:30 a.m. March 11 at 985 W. Second St. A search warrant was served and officers found more than 11 pounds of marijuana, more than 76 pounds of marijuana product and a handgun was also seized, Pomona Police said. The dispensary’s operators were doing business without a permit and refused to comply with the city’s orders to cease doing business, Pomona Police said.

Levantte Jovan Johnson, a 20-year-old Ontario man, was stopped for speeding by members of the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force who were patrolling known to have drug and gang activity, Pomona Police said. Johnson reportedly was driving in excess of 50 miles per hour on residential streets. He was stopped near Myrtle Street and Second Street around 6:35 p.m., Pomona Police said.
A loaded 9-millimeter handgun was confiscated from the floorboard. Efrain Huerta, 28, was taken into custody March 6 During a traffic stop in the area of Kingsley Avenue and Indian Hill Boulevard. Officers initially stopped the vehicle, of which Huerta was a passenger, for not having a front license plate and for failing to make a complete stop at an intersection, according to the Pomona police department. “Huerta was noticeably nervous and without provocation admitted to Officers he was in possession of drugs and paraphernalia,” Pomona police said in a written statement. “Huerta showed the Officers what he admitted to and was removed from the car.” Officers then located a loaded firearm resting near where Huerta was seated. A second hand gun was found holstered on Huerta’s person, Pomona police said.
Huerta was booked on suspicion of possessing a firearm with a controlled substance, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - 10 men from around the area were arrested Thursday during a multi-agency prostitution operation, Pomona Police announced. The operation conducted by the Pomona Police Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking Team, with help from the Pomona Police Special Investigations Unit, Los Angeles County Probation Department and the Department of Child and Family Services Multi-Agencies Response Team, worked on activity through the Holt Avenue Corridor. The goal of such operations is to reduce demand for prostitution-related crimes and are meant to hold customers, known as “Johns,” accountable, Pomona Police said.

Raul Salas, 37, rammed a police car as officers exited their vehicle near Holt Avenue and Currier Street around 12:38 a.m. March 6. Salas then hit a parked vehicle and led officers on a pursuit, Pomona Police said.
Salas allegedly made several more attempts to flee by ramming another police car after he drove through a car wash and stopped at a dead end, Pomona Police said. Salas was eventually taken into custody and booked on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer, felony evading and driving under the influence. He also had an outstanding burglary warrant, Pomona Police said. Pomona police, with the assistance of Azusa, Elmonte, and upland police officers, Arrested one parolee at large, made 19 misdemeanor arrests, 13 felony arrests and performed six probation compliance checks, according to the Pomona Police Department. Officers also confiscated 62 grams of methamphetamine, 46 grams of heroin, two MDMA pills, issued 18 citations and served three search warrants. 10 firearms were seized along with nearly $3,700, Pomona police said.
“The special detail was conducted as part of the department’s continuing efforts to suppress violent crime in the City,” Pomona Police said in a written statement. ”The public’s safety is our top priority and we will continue to utilize all available resources to accomplish this goal.” Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - A specialized team dedicating to addressing sex trafficking on Holt Avenue announced multiple arrests made since the operation’s implementation in January. The Sexual Exploitation Trafficking Team made more than 46 arrests for loitering to commit prostitution and two arrests for prostitution, the Pomona Police Department said. The SETT Unit, part of Pomona Police’s Quality of Life Unit, made the arrests during daily operations and special details along the infamous Holt Avenue corridor, known colloquially as “The Blade.” Police also made two arrests for quality of life violations and three arrests for outstanding warrants.
