POMONA - A woman was arrested early Thursday after she crashed during a reckless pursuit.
Pomona resident Sonya Sifuentes, 35, began evading officers who tried to perform a traffic stop around 12:08 a.m. after discovering the vehicle she drove was stolen, according to the Pomona Police Department.
She sped off from officers at Garvey Avenue and Fernleaf Avenue, leading them along main and side streets until crashing into a parked vehicle at Grand Avenue and Gibbs Street, Pomona Police said.
Sifuentes tried to run after she crashed, but officers quickly caught her.
The passenger suffered leg and head pain. Paramedics treated the passenger at the scene.
A loaded handgun was found in the stolen vehicle, Pomona Police said.
“d been arrested recently for a gun possession charge in a similar type of incident where she was investigated by the Major Crimes Task Force as well,” Pomona Police said in a written statement.
Sifuentes was booked on suspicion of felony evading, grand theft auto, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm and a probation violation.
Sifuentes has two outstanding no-bail warrants.
